Most of you know how much I love cooking and how I am passing that on to my kids. It is a skill they will be thrilled to have when they become adults. I try to make it fun but sometimes have a hard time with that. That is why I was thrilled to learn about Spicebox Books and their Professor Maxwell’s 4D Chef. It turned out to be the one kit that we needed and didn’t know about. I had never heard of it or even seen prior to being sent one for the kids. I am so glad that we took a chance.
Spicebox Box provide parents with high quality activity kits for their children. Kits that will not only allow them to have fun but help them learn as well. Regardless of your age or what sort of activity you like (puzzles, arts and crafts, etc) they have just the kit that will bring a smile to your face.
The Professor Maxwell’s 4D Chef could not have been a more perfect time. It does come with a lot of different things and I refused to let the kids take it all out while I was taking pictures. The reason is they would have poured stuff out all of the place and I would be left trying to find all the pieces.
You get everything listed below inside the box:
• 42 page book of recipes and food science that includes 18 recipes with all sorts of extra stuff. This book is the menu as Professor Maxwell appears. Kids learn things like why bananas continue to ripen after picked. He then walks them through the recipe to make whatever they are learning about.
• Measuring Spoons
• Measuring Cups
• Spatula
• Whisk
• Cutting Board
• Poach Pod
• Rolling Pin
• Knife
• Wood Skewers
• Paper Muffin Liners
• Clothespin
• Chef’s Hat & Apron
The other item that you get are Hands-Free Goggles that you use with your phone in order to interact with the book. They also show you the augmented reality which I will tell you is weird the first time. You want to reach out and touch the professor but he isn’t there. I will tell you to be careful the first few times. The goggles can make depth perception a little different so I suggest having your child put them on a get use to them first.
Now you do have to download an app which you can get in the Apple iOS or Google Play store and use any smartphone to get started. The app is free so that isn’t a problem at all.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There are not words for the amount of fun that all of the kids have had with this. Every single day they want to use it and I actually learned a thing or two that I didn’t know while listening to them use it. It is a fun way to bring science into the kitchen without it seeming like education. It is all about the fun and the learning which this parent is grateful for.
