Book Description:
Online teaching can be just as engaging as well as financially and intellectually rewarding as a more traditional route of teaching a brick and mortar classroom. Author Amber Perlmutter’s hope is to provide every potential online teacher with the tools to find a good online teaching job and to be a successful online instructor.
My Thoughts:
As a homeschool teacher I didn’t even consider the idea of becoming an online teacher. In my state you don’t have to be a certified teacher in order to homeschool your children. The thought of maybe going back to school and having a career as a teacher but still being able to work from home is intriguing to me. I guess I never really thought about all the online teachers there really are today with many schools now being online. After teaching my own children for as long as I have making a paying career out of it may be something to think about. Amber Perlmutter has some very creative ideas for bringing your online classroom to life for your students which I think would relate well in a homeschool setting too. There were also some great time-saving tips that I have been able to apply not only in teaching but to all of my other work as well. All in all Pursuing a Career as an Online Teacher was very helpful to me and I think that any teacher whether online, in a brick and mortar school, or at home will benefit from reading it.
Mary Beth Elderton says
Wow! This is something that has never occurred to me. I was a teacher for many years. I also took my son out of school for his “high school” years and worked on the preK level with my grand-daughter to teach her to read before kindergarten, so I have an idea about both regular schools and homeschooling. I am at a point in life where I still have a passion for teaching, but want to work from home to be available for family.
