My Quest For the Perfect Dress

Sep 23, 2013 | Rita

Quest for the Perfect Dress
Ball-Gown Strapless Cathedral Train Taffeta Tulle Wedding Dress With Ruffle Flower(s) $664.99

As you all know I am renewing my vows and having been searching and searching for the perfect dress. A trip to the actual bridal shop would mean driving for almost an hour so I have been searching online and I have found some very pretty dresses.  In my quest for the perfect dress I  have learned a few things and have narrowed down my options rather quickly.First I discovered that I needed to shop only at online shops that offer custom sizing.

I am in that funny stage of my weight loss where things don’t fit according to a sizing chart. With custom sizing I could get the best possible fit and may only have to have minor alterations. I also don’t want to spend a fortune, after all I still need to  have money for the food and the wonderful old train station I have found for the ceremony and reception. I know it was going to be at home but this place is great and is only $100. Sorry I got off track…back to dresses!  So I came across DressFirst and discovered that they do offer custom sizing and their prices are so great I can spend a little and still get a beautiful dress. I mean I want Edgar to fall on the floor when he sees me and I plan on doing my best to make it happen.

ALinePrincess Halter Chapel Train Satin Tulle Wedding Dress With Lace Beadwork

So I have narrowed it down to three dresses (although the one at the top is a favorite as well. and I want to share them with you all and get your opinions. Keep in mind that i am petite at only 5’1″. First is the  A-Line/Princess Halter Chapel Train Satin Tulle Wedding Dress With Lace Beadwork  which is $317.99 and comes in four color choices. I have to say I really like the champagne color and I know we are having a casual wedding but I think this dress would still work well.

ALinePrincess Strapless Ankle-Length Organza Satin Wedding Dress With Lace Beadwork

I was thinking since I am short that something ankle length might work. This A-Line/Princess Strapless Ankle-Length Organza Satin Wedding Dress With Lace Beadwork at $175.99 is another that I really like. It is simple yet elegant and if I put a little bolero on my arms I think it could be perfect. It is available in four color choices but I like the white of it.

ALinePrincess Strapless Chapel Train Taffeta Lace Wedding Dress With Ruffle Beadwork

My final one is the A-Line/Princess Strapless Chapel Train Taffeta Lace Wedding Dress With Ruffle Beadwork at $277.98 and I must say that I love the drop waist look. It is perfect for a casual wedding but has a little touch of elegance. What do you all think, do you think it would work for someone as short as I am? Again I would have to put something on my arms and I am not certain what yet.

Wow what gorgeous dresses! Each is so different style-wise it’s a tough choice! I’d imagine my dream dress & try to pick something as close to that style as possible. It’s so hard to choose with all the gorgeous options…

I’m short, too. I ended up making mine but I wouldn’t recommend that to most people! but to give u an idea of how fussy I am. My favorite it the gown on the top b/c to me it is the most romantic! What is hard is only you have a better idea which one would look best on you. I wouldn’t be too concerned about if you are too short for any of them, I’d just wear heels for a boost. It sounds like soo much fun! Also, if you are going to wear a caplet or anything additional, it might cause you to like one more than another for the total look. They are all nice and it sounds like you found a great site.

These are such pretty dresses. They are all reasonably priced which is good. Who wants or needs to spend a lot of money on dresses. I hope that you find the dress that you really love.

I love all the ones you picked. I am short too, so finding a dress was difficult. I ended up having to have one custom made too, so I wouldn’t lose out on all the beautiful trains at the bottom. Good luck!

Congrats on finding this site and some beautiful dresses. Dress shopping is such a hard but important task. The three dresses you’ve picked are all gorgeous but very different styles. The first leans toward fashion. You could easily see a model wearing this in a magazine. The last one is my favorite….simple, elegance. It’s romantic and sweet. I love the A-line and drop waist. It has touches of bling and glitz but not overpowering.

I think a lace shawl would work nicely for any of these dresses. Just from the pictures, I’m leaning toward the ankle length dress.

I love the second dress pictured the one with tan around the photo. I believe this is what you are calling the champagne color. This one is definitely my favorite.

Oh my goodness they are all so beautiful! I think you will look amazing! I am also short, but my biggest problem is broad shoulders. I look like a football player with their padding on. 🙂
I love the ankle length one. It is so simple but amazing. I can’t wait to hear all about the renewal ceremony.

I love dress number 3. It looks so elegant and easy to wear. Its a classic look but still looks unique. Number 4 is unique but I don’t think I would choose it as a wedding dress.
