This is one of those great times that I actually get to share the writing of a review with Victoria! I love it and she is excited that she gets to share what she thinks of this book. I loved Pippi Longstocking growing up so when FlyBy Promotions/Propeller Consulting LLC sent an email about reviewing Rasmus and the Vagabond by Astrid Lindgren the creator of Pippi Longstocking I jumped at the chance.
After running away from an orphanage, nine-year-old Rasmus finds the world a cold and unfriendly place until he befriends an extraordinary tramp called Paradise Oscar. Together they meet more adventure than they ever imagined, solve a mystery, and catch the culprits. Rasmus dreams of finding a family and a home someday. But when he does, will he be able to part with his new friend and life on the road?
About the author
Astrid Lindgren, the creator of Pippi Longstocking, Emil, and dozens of other world-famous characters, has thrilled three generations of children with her storytelling. She is the only children’s author with a literary prize, a theme park, a museum, a satellite, and a minor planet named in her honor. (After this last honor, she suggested changing her name to “Asteroid Lindgren.”) A jury appointed by Swedish Radio’s Culture Department to elect the “Author of the Millennium” voted Astrid Lindgren second after William Shakespeare. She was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal and heaps of other awards and honors.
Victoria’s Review
I loved Rasmus and the Vagabond so much! Rasmus runs away from an orphanage and when he does he meets Oscar a tramp. They have an adventure, solve a mystery, and catch the bad people. Some people think that Oscar is the bad guy but he isn’t which I knew but they put him in jail. I really love that Rasmus does not have to leave Oscar because Oscar and his wife get to adopt him and be his parents forever.
My Thoughts
I highly recommend this book! It is a great read that is perfect for children ages 8-12 years old. The book is full of adventure and surprise and in true Astrid Lindgren fashion a story of an amazing boy who has an amazing friendship. This is one of those books that I am thrilled to add to our library.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
