I discovered Gallo Family Vineyards wines a few months ago and I must tell you they are pretty great! I cannot believe I never tried these wines before, after all I have seen them in the store for years.
I recently received their Red Moscato to try out and I have never had such a lively red wine in my life. This is the perfect wine for a girl’s night or when you want to liven things up a little. The citrus and peach flavor is vibrant and fresh so that it pairs well with spicy foods or even desserts. The finish is full of body with a red berry taste. It is light drinking the summer.
This to me is the perfect wine for outdoor grilling this summer since it is best served chilled. When you grill you tend to use more spices and cook a bit lighter so this will bring all the flavors of your meal together. You do need a corkscrew (I remembered and bought one this time!) I paired it with grilled steak and a pico de gallo salsa which was perfect. If you don’t want to have this with dinner then I would suggest pairing it with a cheesecake. I would avoid anything fruity since the wine brings those flavors. I think with the cheesecake you get an excellent pairing.

I have NEVER had wine, but I do think I will be trying it pretty soon just so I know what I’m missing!! Everyone is always talking about how good it is! We will be taking our soon to be 6 year old out for dinner for his birthday in a couple of weeks to Red Lobster – his choice – so I might get me a glass there!!

You really should try it. I would go with a white as a red can at times be a bit stronger for your first time. Let me know what you think of it.

I have tried other Gallo wines and really like them. I haven’t tried this one. But it sounds perfect for our next Lady’s Night. We all like chilled wines so this is perfect.
