This year I did a thing or rather I am doing a thing. No it is not actually running even though that is what the challenge is called. It is the Run the Year Challenge and I was excited when I found this back in October of last year. I had watched a piece on the Boston Marathon and really wanted to take part in that but knew I couldn’t. My health issues just won’t allow the running and I couldn’t push myself that far. Yet, at the same time I wanted the joy of completing soemthing. So I went in search. I discovered I could walk this challenge which made it perfect.
Since I will be walking I thought I would keep it simple and set my goal at 2022 for the year. It somehow perfect and I will admit that I am more than a little nervous now that I have signed up and set my goal. What if I can’t do it? What if I fail so miserable? Then on the other hand what if I succeed? No matter what I am going to give it my all. That is important to me. Even if I don’t want the full 2022 for the entire year I want to know that I gave it my all.
One Rule
There aren’t a lot of rules over at the but there is some debate on whether to count deliberate miles or just the total number of steps for the day. I have decided that will only count the deliberate miles. The ones that I go out every day and do in order to meet my goal. That way I am getting in my daily exercise while I am doing my miles. The total daily steps just doesn’t seem fair since that changes day to day depending on what I am doing. I want to work toward this goal. Currently I am walking somewhere between two and three miles a day when I do my daily walk. I am going to strive for at least three miles, five days a week. If I can do more I will and on the weekends I do something else workout wise. The road I walk on is just to busy on the weekends.
Join Me
If you would like to set a goal and participate in the challenge with me then please feel free. I will be updating y’all as we go throughout the year. Feel free to sign up for your own goal and get the swag. If you want to just join with me and do the miles I do then please feel free to do that as well.
Current Miles
Currently I have the above number of miles behind me. I thought about breaking it down by days, weeks, or months for y’all but then I realized that would be a lot. I do plan to update the total for the week in my Friday cocktail posts but for the most part here you will get the total for the month and then the current running total. It just seemed easier.
