I don’t watch a lot of television but last night was the end of American Gothic on CBS and I have to say I am a little sad to see it go. If you are familiar it followed a wealthy Boston family and their ties to a serial killer. It was a summer show and I must tell you all that I really loved it. If you didn’t see last night’s episode don’t worry I won’t be spoiling it for you.
I will say that I was happy with the ending and I didn’t see the person who was the killer being the killer. Although some of the stuff that come out about the mother, Madeline Hawthorn wasn’t really a surprise because she was a piece of work. I was very happy with the way the children end up because I thought they all deserved that.
There was one thing that I was confused about and maybe someone who watched the show can help me out. Madeline’ mother is shown once in an early episode. What happened to her? I assumed that she was maybe killed which wouldn’t surprise me and my uncle said it wouldn’t matter because she would kill herself with the way she drank and drive. I really would like to know what happened to her and would have loved for the kids to find out about her.
The other thing that I thought would have been great would have been if the killer had taken the money hidden in the mausoleum because they are told about it and I assumed that would be a logical step. After all $500,000 makes for a pretty cushiony getaway.
I don’t know if there will be any other seasons although this article says that there are plans for more seasons but CBS hasn’t said whether they are renewing or not. Although the article did say that each season there would be a different family. Either way this season was excellent and in time when any sort of mystery is filled with blood and gore this was tastefully done and left me guessing.

I never watched this series. I am only hooked on Walking Dead and Fear the Dead shows. I still sometimes can’t find the time with two busy kids.
