I admit that I guilty of the same thing. I never, ever thought about the TV turning over on one of the kids. For most parents a flat panel TV is style that is in your home know. Like me you probably never thought about it falling. I mean sure the older, heavier ones fall but not these. However due to increasing size and the new ultra thin designs, today’s flat panel TVs can easily tip over much more easily when bumped or pulled, toppling off of furniture and causing injury or even death.SANUS, the leading designer and manufacturer of flat panel TV wall mounts, has partnered with Safe Kids Worldwide to bring the issues out into the forefront. They are doing this by educating consumers on the risk of unsecured flat panel TV’s, SANUS and Safe Kids Worldwide offer safe solutions for families across the nation by reducing TV tip-over related injuries and fatalities.
A 2011 US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) report on flat panel TV safety revealed:
· A child is killed every three weeks from an unsecured TV
· Every 45 minutes a child visits an emergency room due to a TV tip-over related injury
· Between 2000 and 2011, 215 fatalities have resulted from TV tip-over
· An estimated 17,000 people each year, the majority of which are children, are treated for injuries from TV tip-overs
· Reported cases have increased almost 25% from 2006 to 2010, and over the last 10 years, injuries have increased by 31%

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

We have safety locks on our cleaning cabinets & safty outlet plugs. We really need to get our TV mounted!

Child proofing has always been a challenge for me. One of the things that I have done is made sure their are locks on the cupboards especially the cleaning supplies. I also make sure the outlet have those special covers. My girls like to play with those which is not a good thing.

I use safety locks for the cabinets and drawers, cover plug outlets and use safety gates.

I’ve gotten pretty lucky. My daughter has never been one to open drawers and things. We have baby gates by both sets of stairs. The one thing we do need to fix is our TV. We recently got a 50″ flat screen, and it just sits on the entertainment stand. I would love (and I would feel a lot better) if we attached it to the wall. I really worry about it falling on my 2.5 year old.

I would put gates, Outlet Plugs, Safety Latches, and corner cushion.

I make sure heavy items are out of the way and keep all chemicals and other items behind locked cabinets or in places that they can’t reach

I love the lumbar style pillows. They feel really comfortable to me. I love the Hollywood Glam Designer style fabric. It seems soft and silky.

when my kids were younger, we had safe lock all the entrance doors, cabinets, and windows. We also put padding on all sharp corners
