When you are planning your wedding reception one thing you ay want to consider is a fun drink for kids and those who don’t drink alcohol. Sodas and juices are great options and they should be considered but I will never forget the Sherbet Wedding Punch my aunt made for my uncle’s wedding many years ago. We got to drink it out of champagne glasses and thought we were starlets.
I now make this punch for weddings, baby showers, and more. So I thought I would share my recipe with you all. Please know that you can adjust the recipe however you want, even add alcohol to it. Be sure to serve it in a fun glass so that everyone feels important.
- 1/2 gallon of sherbet
- 2 bottles of Sprite or 7-up or ginger ale
- Pineapple with juice (this is optional and depends on the occasion but I do sometimes add 1 can.)
In a punch bowl add half of the sherbet into your punch bowl and allow to soften. Add soda gently and do not stir. Float remaining sherbet in scoops on punch. You get a really nice “cloud” look. If you are trying to match wedding colors, substitute raspberry for pink, lime for green, daiquiri for blue or pineapple sherbet for yellow or with a dash of food color in your pineapple sherbet for any color you choose. To keep it cool you can freeze some soda in a jello mold and then place it in the punch. I sometimes do one or two of these just to help everything stay cool, not that the punch lasts very long.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I absolutely love this kind of punch. I had this once at a party that I went to and I enjoyed it. It tasted different than I thought it would but it was definitely delicious

This sounds so delicious, I think my grandmother used to make a punch like this at Christmas.

That looks like a crowd pleasing non alcoholic option! Looking at the green in the picture, I’m also thinking it would make a great Halloween drink! Serve out of a cauldron, maybe float some googly eyes…

This sounds perfect for birthdays too! A lady at my work makes something similar but I think it incorporates Jell-o, believe it or not. I think your recipe sounds simpler!

I love this kind of punch! This was always my favorite as a kid. I used to love when we went to special events and they served this. I have got to make this sometime for my kids.

So funny, my daughter just picked out her bridesmaid dresses and picked a seafoam color mixed with peach. She could totally do this with the orange and lime sherbet and the pineapple would fit into their tropical theme. I remember my mom doing this for special occasions when little.

This sounds so yummy right now. I make one similar, but I think I’ll try the pineapple juice next time. Thanks for sharing.

This sounds wonderful. I love that pineapple adds a little zing and freshness to it. We make one quite similar but with Hawaiian Punch about 50/50 with the ginger ale. We freeze some of the punch and add to keep the punch colder too. Yummy.

I will def give this a try..easy peasy and sounds delish!

Wedding Punch is something I haven’t had in a long time. I wish I had run across the recipe during this summer. What a wonderful and refreshing drink on those hot, humid days. The varied colors will add to the fun when I make this next summer.

I’m embarrassed to say this, but I’ve never known how to make punch like this. I’ve tried it a few times at places, but hadn’t seen a recipe until now. I’m sure my son would like me to make it for him and his friends. I’m sure it will be a hit. Thanks for posting this.

I do really enjoy the mix of drinks and ice cream. However, I would probably opt for some vodka and some sorbet, instead of soda and sherbet. My favorite is stone fruit vodka with cherry lambic sorbet. It’s my absolute favorite cocktail dessert.

I absolutely love this punch. It’s so light and refreshing in the summer heat. I haven’t had it in years, but I’m super glad for the reminder. I’m definitely buying some lime sherbert and diet sprite to make it soon. Thank you.

Typical punch I stay as far away from as I can, but this – oh my!!!! It looks soooo delish! I want to have this today, I’d be tempted to sneak into a wedding celebration to have it. Better yet, I can make ice cream sodas with it – asap!!!
