Skinnygirl Cocktails

Feb 24, 2012 | Rita

Margaritas are no stranger to our home. I mean let’s face it my husband is Mexican and he makes some of e best margaritas I have ever had. So when I got the chance to review Skinnygirl Margarita I thought I loved to! I have heard about Skinnygirl Cocktails from several of my friends but I had not tried any of their products.

Skinnygirl Cocktails was created by Bethenny Frankel, a renowned natural foods chef, mixologist, New York Times Bestselling Author, and star of Bethenny Ever After. When she found out just how high in calories restaurant margaritas were, she saw an incredible opportunity: give women a low-calorie version of the cocktail that didn’t sacrifice fresh, delicious taste.

I loved the idea of trying a drink that was low-calorie since I am trying to get healthier, and Skinnygirl Cocktails Margarita has only 100 calories. I should tell you that I am not a big drinker. The occasional glass of wine or mixed drink is all I do. When I say occasional I mean maybe two or three times a month.  When I received the Margarita I opened the box and it was ice cold. I received on one of the unusually cold days of the month and loved that it was cold and ready to drink.

I put it in the fridge and waited for hubby to get home and see hoe they were. The first thing I noticed was the smell of the alcohol. It is made with premium Blue Agave Tequila and you can really smell it, not that it was a horrible smell, but since I don’t drink regularly stronger alcohols tend to be noticed by nose. One of the best things  I loved about this is I didn’t have to get the Margarita pitcher out and wash it.

I am not a salt on the rim kind of gal so we always skip that. since I usually prefer frozen to regular margaritas I ran some ice through the food processor and then we poured the drink over the ice. The first sip was a bit strong but the second sip really showed me the time and care that goes into producing this drink. It was FABULOUS! I really enjoyed it. Even hubby thought they were very good (compared to his of course.)  The were so good that we drank the whole bottle that night!
