Sodastream Review

Jul 17, 2012 | Rita

You all know how I feel about soda and how much I spend on it as well. Thanks to the wonderful people at SodaStream I don’t have to spend as much as I usually do now. If you don’t yet know about SodaStream, they are the world’s largest manufacturer of Home Carbonation Systems. To put it simply they make machines that allow you to make sodas and flavored water at home. One of the great things about SodaStream products is that they don’t require electricity or batteries which saves you money as well.

SodaStream has several different drink makers available. I received a Genesis model in black to review and I must say that I like the sleek design of this one. Available in your choice of red or black. The SodaStream system is very easy to use. The Genesis is much nicer than the Jet and Stream model in that it doesn’t look as thin. The carbonation canister goes in the back and the cover on the Genesis is not as thin as the one on the Jet and Stream model. The carbonation canister is what makes you regular water (tap or bottled) into “soda” water as my mom calls it.

You can make all sorts of beverages and when I say all sorts I truly mean all sorts. They have everything from regular cola to ice teas. All you have to do is add in some syrup of the flavor you want. I found that the amount listed in the instructions was not quite enough (for me) so I played around with it a bit until I got the perfect amount. The syrup is added after you carbonate the water.

SodaStream Bottles

I love  the plastic bottles that come with the system. I love them because you can wash, reuse them, and they will last for 3 years. That is a lot of soda! SodaStream does have a few new dishwasher safe bottles including a glass carafe. I love the look of the glass carafe and am thinking about getting one for myself. The bottle (which is holding the water) screws into the machine and then you press the button and add carbonation.

You can purchase SodaStream online or at retailers such as Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Wal-Mart!!
