Southern Yankee, talk about your oxymoron but the name is rather catchy and the handmade clothing and aprons are much more Southern than Yankee trust me. The clothing is truly adorable and I was thrilled when they agreed to work with me. Started in 1998 Southern Yankee creates all sorts of wonderful things from old things.
We received a Vintage Pillowcase Apron which is a child size apron made from a vintage pillowcase. The first thing you will notice is that the pillowcase truly is vintage. It looks like one my great-grandmother use to have on her bed when I was very little. The workmanship is truly amazing and this is one of the most beautiful children’s aprons I have ever seen.
Since it arrived the weekend that my brother was here there was a bit of a fight between the girls over who was going to get to wear it. In the end they all got a chance and Ma put it up so it wouldn’t be destroyed over their petty arguments. The apron comes in a clear little “paint” can (shown at top) and looks so cute. I almost didn’t want to open it but I am glad that I did.
