This week’s word is another good one! It is el río ree’-oh (noun) which means river. Check it out below used in a couple of sentences:
1. El Encuentro de las Aguas es la confluencia del río Negro y el río Amazonas. Por diferencias de velocidad, temperatura y densidad, las aguas no se mezclan.
The Meeting of Waters is the confluence between the Rio Negro and the Amazon River. Because of differences in speed, temperature, and water density, the rivers do not mix.
2. ¡Se han encontrado tiburones sarda hasta en el río Mississippi!
Bull sharks have even been found in the Mississippi River!
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Funny when I saw the word I thought of the river Rio Grande.

This is a good one. I like how it sounds when it rolls off your tongue. 🙂 I don’t think it will stump my daughter but I will give it a shot..

That’s a great word. A lot of people have heard the word at one time or another. That’s why I like this post. You include examples so we can see them in use, I am bilingual myself but I always learn a little bit of grammar when I see it written out.
Thanks!

I need to start working my Spanish again with school starting up. My daughter studies Spanish five days a week at school and I love practicing with her. It’s fun to be able to offer words she hasn’t learned yet.

My son just started high school and is taking Spanish I and my daughter takes Spanish in grade school. I really appreciate these words each week. I often share them with the kids. They often already know them but it is a good conversation starter.
