If you follow me on Instagram then you know about my new favorite cup and I won’t give that puppy up for anyone. Something my uncle found out when he asked to use it for his coffee early one morning. It was not a pretty scene and there may have been hair pulling (he’s such a girl!) which led me to realize that he needed a to go cup. When I was given the chance to review a stainless steel tumbler from Star Ascent I knew I needed to jump on it.
Needless to say he was thrilled but I am always wary when I get a new cup because I want it to do everything that it says it will do. I sit at my desk sometimes for hours working and forget to drink my drink. Which means hot things tend to end up cold and cold ones hot. It is irritating but I am so focused on work that drinking seems unimportant. So I thought I would address each promise made about the stainless steel tumbler from Star Ascent and tell you my experiences.
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RETENTION (HOT AND COLD DRINKS)
So they say it will hold ice for up to 24 hours or keep coffee hot into the afternoon. I put ice into it first thing in the morning (around 6 am) and then checked it before I went to bed (around 10 pm) and although some of the ice had melted it was still pretty cold. I would say about half had melted. I filled it full of ice. keep ice cold for 24 hours– This incredible double walled insulated stainless steel tumbler can do both! It will either hold ice for up to 24 hours, or keep your early morning coffee hot well into the afternoon.
QUALITY THAT WILL LAST FOR MANY YEARS
Okay I haven’t had this one but a month or so which means I can’t honestly tell you if it will last or not. As to the quality this cup appears very well made. It is a 30 oz. tumbler made of 18/8 stainless steel. Now they say it is the highest quality stainless steel but of course all I have is their word. Now we have put it through a little wear and tear. Which in our home means we handed it tot he kids. The splash proof sliding lid works easily and help prevent spills.
NO SWEAT
This is a biggie for me because I hate the sweat on cups or anything. Especially since I put things on my desk and I know that my uncle uses the cup a lot in my car. The double walled vacuum insulation keeps the outer wall cool to the touch for hot beverages and no sweat on cold ones. Does it work? Yes it does which I am thankful for. Another feature that I really like is that it fits my car cup holder. There is nothing worse than getting out to the car and realizing that you have to hold your drink. With the way I drive that is not a good thing at all.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

This sounds like a great tumbler. I love that it keeps the ice from melting!!! My biggest problem with most tumblers is the drips from the spout.

That is irritating something fierce. This cup doesn’t do that, I checked after reading your comment.

I’m glad this works well for you. I don’t like cold drinks and rarely drink hot ones. My sister would like this.

I have a friend who doesn’t like hot or cold drinks either. When we go to a restaurant she always orders her drink without ice.

I’ve seen a coworker with one similar. I tend to forget my drinks also so this might be helpful for me to find one.

It just happens. I get a drink and then get busy and realize hours later that I never drank it. The only thing it doesn’t matter with is water but I never forget to drink it.

I would love a big to-go cup that actually keeps my tea hot! But I think my favorite feature of the Star Ascent tumbler is the clear lid. It would be so handy to know how much tea is left in my mug. Thanks for your review and the photos showing the mug.

That is handy and I am sure you will enjoy your tea even more.

Thank you Ginette and I agree it is better than the plastic.

Sounds great! I never tried a stainless steel tumbler yet. Have to get one to see if I would love it.
