Summer Secrets by Jane Green

Jul 10, 2015 | Rita

I wasn’t totally in love with Summer Secrets but neither did I hate it. It is the perfect beach or summer read and there are also plenty of flashbacks as we journey with Cat and her recovery as an alcoholic. There were times that Cat really annoyed me while I enjoyed Sam. I really enjoyed how he was not only a good friend to Cat but also sort of a surrogate father to her daughter. Which to me personally is important.  Cat was very strong and stayed that while working on her recovery. Even when things happen she still holds on to her sobriety and  pushes through.  This book could so easily truly be someone’s life and I think that many will connect with it on some level. Most will find much of themselves within at least one of the characters in the book (I’m not telling you which one I related most to!) The truth is that I truly enjoy when characters are flawed because we all are. Cat could easily be my sister or a friend and the journey she takes is one that proved her inner strength even if she didn’t always have it.

Good Taste Kickstarter

Jane Green also has an amazing kickstarter for her cookbook Good Taste that was fully funded in 5 days! There is still a few days left in this program if you want to join in and get some amazing incentives. It ends July 14, 2015 and this cookbook looks super amazing if you ask me. I mean just check out the dishes (image below) she has included!

I really love the cover of this book. The blue flower on the blue background is very striking. Not sure I love the plot but I think I would give it a try.

This actually sounds like a good book for me right now, I need something I can put down and pick back up to start reading again. I am interrupted a million times if I sit to read.

I have been a fan of Jane Green since Jemima J .So I will probably pick this up I prefer the happier lighter writing and this sounds kinda dark and sad but I will give it a try

I have to be honest, after reading your review I’m not in love with Summer Secrets either. If I read it I probably wouldn’t hate it but it just doesn’t sound that exciting. Thank you for sharing this review.

I love summer “beach” books. This one looks great- I love books about strong women who find change and hat deal with family secrets and dynamics. Thanks for the heads up!

This sounds like a book I would enjoy. I like when characters in books are flawed also, it makes them more believable to me.
