Tasty Tuesday: Cooking a Brisket

Apr 18, 2017 | Rita

I don’t know about all of you but I love food and everything to do with food including all the gadgets in the kitchen. Welcome to another week of Tasty Tuesday where you will find anything from a recipe to tips on washing dishes! Just kidding cause, I hate to wash dishes and will get out of it if I possibly can and do most nights!

For Easter I made a corned beef brisket for the family and I will tell you I don’t think I did too bad. It was my first time making one but let me back up a little bit. I was in the grocery store shopping one day when I found the brisket. I wasn’t sure what a corned beef brisket was exactly when the meat guy behind the counter explained it to me. He told me they typically got them in around St. Paddy’s day and they were fairly goo.d I thought that it would be great to have something different for Easter so I got it.

So Easter morning I started out by seeing how long it would take for the brisket to cook. If you have never made a corned beef brisket it comes with a little packet of spices to rub on it. Also it is super bloody and slimy! EWW!! I ended up washing it off before I could even touch it. I don’t normally do that with meats but I had to do it with this. I put the rub on it and then put in a pot. Covered it with water and three hours later we ready. All in all it was a good piece of meat, easy to cook and if you look past the slim not bad at all.

Your brisket looks great. I usually cook mine in the slow cooker. It comes out super tender, perfect the way we like it.

My dad is the official brisket cooker in my family. He made one for St. Patrick’s Day this year. I need to try this so the tradition continues…
