Tasty Tuesday: Memorial Day Dessert Ideas

I don’t know about all of you but I love food and everything to do with food including all the gadgets in the kitchen. Welcome to another week of Tasty Tuesday where you will find anything from a recipe to tips on washing dishes! Just kidding cause, I hate to wash dishes and will get out of it if I possibly can and do most nights!

Monday the 29th is Memorial Day which means lots of picnics and barbecues will be going on. One thing many bring is desserts and I wanted to share a the easiest idea to make it special. One things about this particular holiday (and the 4th of July) is that the blueberries, strawberries and Cool Whip tend to be the three top sellers. The reason behind it of course that they are red, white, and blue!

A simple but elegant dessert is a layered cake. You can do any cake that you want but I like to do an angel food cake. I do not put the mix (yes I said a mix) in the fluted pan but rather in a regular pan. The angel food cake works because it is so light. Do not ice the cakes. I typically do three layers. I place the cake on my cake stand then add cool whip, strawberries, and blueberries, then the next layer and so on. You will have a wonderful treat that won’t sit heavy in your stomach.
