I promised y’all last month that I would do another one of these each month for the rest of the year as a way to celebrate the end of 2021. Not to mention all of the things we have all been through in the last couple of years. This year was more than a little bittersweet for me personally.
Welcome to the Thanksgiving 2021 Giveaway!
Once again the giveaway is pretty much the same as it was last time both here and over at Wickedly Romance. I didn’t see the point in changing something that works well. I know how much y’all love these and to be honest I am not sure at this moment if there will any big giveaways on either blog next year. I am still in the middle of planning the first quarter and always struggle a little with what I want to do. No worries, it will all come together in the end.
Is it time for pie yet? I am only allowing myself a couple of pieces of pie this year since I am eating healthier. I didn’t want to say no pie at all because that would lead to me eating all of it. I am a die hard pecan pie eater and only like a couple of other ones. I bake plenty of pies but I don’t eat all of them. My father used to say I was a pie snob. I like to think I am simply a true southern gal who knows where it’s at.
This month I will be sharing plenty of Thanksgiving memories and fun times with y’all. Thanksgiving and fall are my favorite times of the year so there will be lots of things to share with you. I love when the weather gets cold and I have discovered a new French café in town that I need to try out so badly. I’m wondering if I can get my niece to go with me since she loves that sort of thing as well. Although I am not above going on my own.

My aunt used to sew when I was younger. She made quilt skirts for my mom, herself, my cousin and me. It was the first Thanksgiving without my grandparents and my aunt and mom had to make a turkey for the first time. They didn’t know to take the turkey out days before to thaw it. We didn’t eat till 9pm at night and my younger cousin fell asleep at the table. Great memories!

My dad was born on Thanksgiving Day and my granny used to call him her turkey baby. We always celebrated his birthday on Thanksgiving, even the years it wasn’t actually on that day, but not everyone could always make it. In 2017 we celebrated his birthday and was able to get everyone together that year. We didn’t know that would be his last Thanksgiving and birthday. I’m so grateful our entire family was able to come that day and I have a wonderful picture of him smiling, so happy to see everyone. We miss him so much, but knowing how happy he was that day always makes me grateful.

It usually is so fun to see everyone and catch up on what has been happening all year. I look forward to it and can’t wait when we can do it again. We had a dinner just us and our kids and everyone was missed. We always reflect on those who have passed and are not at our table and remember the happy times together.
