It’s that time of the year again when we get ready to celebrate thanksgiving and all the amazing things that it entails. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and always has been. Why you ask? Because it is the one holiday out of the year that is all about the food. You know I’m right! It’s the one day of the year where we spend baking and cooking without anything else going on. Like presents or church or whatever. We spend the entire morning making a meal to celebrate the food and our family. I just love it!
Traditions
Thanksgiving is a very American holiday. but is one that many enjoy. I don’t know about everyone else but we don’t have a lot of traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving. The biggest we have is that everyone dresses nicely, no sweats allowed, and that we all sit at the table. There are also no paper plates or silverware at my table. We even use napkins. I can remember growing up and going to my grandparents house for Thanksgiving. My grandmother always used her fine china and the good silver.
It felt so special and that is something that I have kept for my own house over the years. I wanted the kids to have that same special feeling. I also have a no electronic device rule at the table. The television is turned off and we take the time to just enjoy one another’s company.
Parade and Lights
Another tradition that we have is watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My dad used to watch it with us when we were little. Him and my grandfather would have it on in the living room. That night after we got home we would put up our Christmas tree and lights as well. I don’t always put the tree up that night. I typically wait until the first of December to put the tree up.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I will be cooking for just my husband and myself. A turkey breast with sides. The kids live away. I do love the Macy’s parade. Cher will be the guest star this year.
