It’s that time of the year again! The stockings are hung by the chimney with care, or at least they are near it on one of those rack things because I couldn’t get the hooks to into the mantle without making a mess, the Christmas tree is decorated (and looking more like a three year old did and missing more ornaments every day), and the whole family has gathered to watch the holiday movies on television. Even if I did have threaten them to get get them there. Some days are just rough at my house!
One of the things I love is all of the different men that have played Santa over the years. My favorite is Richard Attenborough in the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street. I don’t know what it is but I just love him and he was a great actor. My next favorite would have to be Art Carney who played Santa in a television special that I remember from my childhood. The name was The Night They Saved Christmas which actually leads me to my favorite Mrs. Claus.
June Lockhart played her and she did such a wonderful job. She was so warm and just the way I pictured Mrs. Claus to be at the time. I also liked Miranda Richardson in Fred Claus because I like her as an actress. I swear there were times when she looked like all she wanted to do was slap Fred at times and maybe even Santa’s mother. All of the actor and actresses who took on the role of Santa and Mrs. Claus over the year have done such amazing jobs. They are part of the reason these movies still bring us some magic year after year. I make my family watch them with me year after year. We have a tradition that they get to open a small gift if they watch a movie with me. On December first the kids have a list ready and we have a 24 days of holiday movies!

Honestly, I cannot remember a single Santa or Mrs. Claus from any movies! For the last several years, I’ve found myself putting more and more distance between myself and Christmas. I don’t decorate, I don’t send cards, I don’t listen to the music or watch the shows or movies, I don’t do anything I don’t absolutely have to. I find it really depressing, and avoidance helps keep the depression at bay.
I must say, though, that I love your Santa and Mrs. Claus GIFs! What fun to see all those faces for the same characters.

The Santa and Mrs. Santa faces are just awesome! I may not have seen some of the movies but I recognized a lot of them.

I say here and starred at that for the longest time. Really looked neat. I however do not have a favorite santa.
