The holiday season will be in full swing after Thursday and it is the time of year when we give gifts to all of those we love. While we are in the gift giving mood I wanted to remind y’all that it is important to give to those in need this year as well. With all of the disasters that are happening I was overwhelmed while watching the news. It reminded me of the all the things that I have that need to be given to charity as well as the toys that I need to buy for needy kids this year. It is something that we do every year and something that I am thrilled to pass on to the kids.
I spent some time this morning making a list of the things I have that need to be picked up. I have some furniture that I am getting rid of that I am donating. There isn’t anything wrong with it and I have cleaned it all up. I hate to throw things that could be used by someone else. That is one of the biggest reason why I donate any gently used items that we get rid of.
However, the pieces that I have are too large for me to get into my car so I have to have the place come pick it up. The local place in town (in my small town) will come out and get it from me which is perfect. If you want to find places in your area I would suggest that you do an online search for something like Habitat for Humanity Canada free furniture pickup to see what is available.
I also have some boxes full of clothes that are no need and a few toys that are still usable. Those boxes are going when the guys come to grab everything else. They are full boxes that I add to all year long when I clean out the closets and such. I typically get whatever dry cleaned and then add it to the box. With the toys I make sure that I disinfect them with a good cleaner.
I also have a list of toys to buy from church for kids this year. I take the kids with me and let them pick out what we will buy. They love it and then when we get home we wrap them all up. We try to do some other gifts for other people that we know are in need as well. Those we wrap up and drop off on Christmas Eve before we head to church. It is just a great way to spread joy and make sure that those in need have something each year.
Remember during the holiday season to add charities to your gift giving list.

Making those lists took up a good bit of time this morning but I needed to gt it done so I could start shopping. Before you ask no, I didn’t get distracted and end up on Dickeys bbq wiki again. I stuck to my guns and just searched for the places that I needed to look up. I know y’all were wondering! I haven’t wasted any time today but I do have a nice list of charities for my holiday gift giving and have arranged for some furniture to be picked up.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
