The Holidays with If You Care

Dec 02, 2011 | Rita

Trying to go green during the holidays can be a bit of a challenge. I have however discovered a company that makes it all very easy, If You Care. If You Care is committed to protecting the environment by producing high-quality alternatives to conventional kitchen and household products.

  • The materials they use are specially chosen to reduce their impact on our environment.
  • They use unbleached paper, recycled materials and wood and paper coming from sustainably managed forests.
  • They replace petroleum based ingredients with natural and renewable resources.
  • They use paper from pulp and paper mills practicing the highest levels of clean water management.

Every care is taken to ensure that each step– from factory to store shelf – conforms to strict standards for the conservation and protection of our greatest asset – the environment.

I received several products from If You Care to review and was very impressed with each of them. I loved the Aluminum Foil which is made with 100% recycled aluminum. While traditional foil manufacturing is a power-intensive process, ours uses 95% less energy to produce. Because there is no need to mine, their production creates less waste, while reusing a precious resource. I use Aluminum Foil for cooking A LOT so I was really nervous to try recycled aluminum foil – I wasn’t sure if it would perform the same…But it definitely DID! It worked great for all my recipes – both desserts and dinners and I never noticed a difference from my previous brands!

The Parchment Baking Paper  which is made Silicone, and  FSC certified unbleached, greaseproof paper, was also great. I don’t used parchment paper in baking that often simply because, to be honest, I am a bit afraid of it. I can just see myself burning this stuff among other disasters. This paper is great and I have found that since I have it in the house I use it much more than before.
