Each month there is so much stuff to get done not only in my blogging life but in every aspect of my life. I sit down each month and I write out all the things that I want to get accomplish for the month. I will honestly say that if I get even three of the things on my list accomplished then I call that month a success. There are things that I write down each month and then just don’t seem to have the time to get to them. So this month I am focusing on accomplishing one thing. That’s it just one thing and instead of what I need to do for the month I wrote down everything that I need to do for the rest of the year.
I already know that most of it will not be accomplished simply because I don’t have the time. So my one thing for this month is to find a balance in my schedule. I do a lot of different things and the schedule that always worked for me no longer does. I find myself working until late into the night and being left with the feeling of accomplishing nothing. I also just took on helping my brother and his business partners get their website up and running. Now that isn’t hard but since they are a new company it is a huge task.
So finding that balance that not only works for me but also allows me to take care of myself and my family is important. So far I begun a new schedule that works or it has for the last week. However over the weekend I was so tired that I ended up sleeping most of Sunday but I think that may have been due to the sunburn that I got as well. Being out in the sun most of the day on Saturday really took it out of me.
I have been getting up at 5 am and doing some general writing until seven then I take a little nap until 8. This allows me to write when it is quiet and there aren’t a million different things going on. It really works and the nap helps me be able to function for the next part of my morning. From 8-9 I take a shower, have breakfast, etc and skim though my emails. Then I homeschool until 1 pm but I do check emails from time to time during this period. We have some lunch and I go back to work until around four or five. Then dinner and our nightly routine and I do more work.
It is still a full day as you can see but my goal is to have managed much better by the first of October. I will let you al know how I am doing next month.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

That you have a regular schedule/routine probably helps a lot. I always found that it is easier to tweak a set routine than starting from scratch every day. As a former teacher, I might suggest setting a day–or part of a day–for the kids to work (almost) completely without you. Maybe individual projects? Maybe a group project with each having an assigned part, then working to put them together? Maybe have an older kid lead younger ones in an activity? A “quiet time” after lunch for reading? Whatever the ages, there may be some way to work in an extra couple of hours a week. You are doing a great job with this blog! Take care.

I agree life sometimes switches things up. We have a busy month with school, sports, a birthday, and an anniversary. So I should probably make a monthly to-do list to keep myself focused.

Im hoping for balance as well. I have to get up early to get things done and I have started to enjoy the quiet time.

I find that if I write a list out then I’m more than likely to cross things off..always a great idea to do a list

Sounds like you’re on track with your new schedule. I would find getting up that early difficult, but the quiet time for writing can’t be beat. I think part of the trick of setting up a schedule that works is to find what your most productive time is, and if early morning works for you, then go for it! For me, mid- to late afternoon is the best time for cooking and baking, so I get most of my kitchen work done then. Good luck figuring it all out!

Balance in your life is very important. I know it helps me to mostly stick to a schedule.

I really need to make a schedule for stuff I need to get done during the month, I am really terrible procrastinator, but I do ok with list. Since my kids are in school/preschool, I am all out of whack with having to go and pick them up.

I reread the title of this post and my thought went to: the one thing for this month is to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary. We actually leave the day after our anniversary to Disney for 4 days.
