For those of you who don’t know I have multiple jobs. Since I work from home I am able to do a couple of things. My job with my brother I sort of got roped into. Meaning he said “Here so this work” and I said “Okay.” I is a lot of fun truthfully but I would never tell him that. The one thing we seem to have issues with was inventory control. Well that and communications. We needed an app that would allow everyone in the company to use it plus be multi-functional.
Doesn’t seem like too much to ask for right? WRONG! I spent forever scouring the internet for an app that would do everything I needed it do. I downloaded and tried out so many different apps I thought I was going to break my poor phone. Every time I thought I found the app for us my brother would hate it. If we both liked it there was something another partner didn’t like. I wanted to rip out my own hair. Y’all know how much this sort of stuff drives me up a wall.
I couldn’t though because I am their technical support. I know right! Bless their hearts they try but in the end it’s easier for me to do the computer work. Although they are certainly opinionated in what they want. Since PFOR is still a fairly small company with only a handful of employees group text messaging works most of the time. Of course we use email as well. What we really wanted was a way for them to have information (such as pricing) available when they are at events. As I said the other thing was inventory. My brother wanted to track inventory and my sister in-law (whose in charge of Marketing) and I needed to see all pricing on all inventory in order to enter it correctly in the computer.
After weeks of searching I finally found an app that would work. It was the most simple app ever but it works. We have everyone set up as team members so they can access the information while my brother and I share an admin login. We did end up using a spreadsheet for the inventory. We figured for now it was the easiest thing to do. Eventually the goal is to sell enough to justify some specialty software. Right now, they just don’t have the sales for that. When that day comes we will start this whole process over again. I may need an exist strategy! 😉
While I was searching apps I come across a super cute app called Ask Bongo it didn’t do what I wanted it to do. In fact, it was even what I was looking for but it was still fun. I not only downloaded it but we had a little fun playing with it. It was all in good fun and we needed a research break. Although Bongo did tell my brother he should pay me more. I couldn’t agree more. I need a raise or an awesome Christmas gift for the app searching torture I was forced to endure. Navy SEALS would have broken attempting to complete this mission! 😉
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
