The Stranger on Netflix

I found The Stranger on Netflix and thought it sounded great. It also stars Richard Armitage and I like him as an actor. He usually does a great job in all the projects he is a part of and I will tell you this is no exception.

When a stranger makes a shocking claim about his wife, family man Adam Price becomes entangled in a mystery as he desperately searches for answers.

There are eight episodes in this series and I sat up until 3 am watching them all. This one begins simple enough in that we see Adam Price with his sons at a soccer game. A woman comes up to him afterwards and tells him that he didn’t have to stay with his wife after she got pregnant the last time because she wasn’t really pregnant.

From there we watch as Adam attempts to figure out if his wife was lying and what was going on. His wife, in turn, goes missing and we follow the search for her and all sorts of secrets begin to come to light.

Almost every character you meet is either connected to Adam in some way or the woman has told them some secret. As we begin to unravel the secrets we learn so much more about the characters. Adam’s father is a grade A jerk in so many ways. He has very little feeling for his adult son it would appear.

His wife, although she apparently made some mistakes, does truly love Adam I felt. She just was human and did what she thought was right at the moment. The mystery woman is the one whom I can’t seem to understand at times. I get why she was doing what she was but I didn’t understand why she felt she needed to destroy so many lives in the process.

I mean she seemed so righteous in sharing people’s secrets because she felt people shouldn’t lie like that. However, she was carrying a pretty large secret herself. There are so many twists and turns in this movie that I was on the edge of my edge most of the time. Even in the more mundane parts of it you want to know what is going on.

I will tell you that while I figured out what happened to Adam’s wife but I in no way saw it happening the way it did. The ending was surprising in so many ways. After all it was a secret that started everything.

There are secrets everywhere in this movie and one will come to light in a moment you least expect. The cop who will do anything to help his sick daughter. The mother who will do anything to keep her daughter sick. The friend who is just trying to protect her child. The brother who will do whatever it takes to protect his sister. The man who just wants to keep the love of his life from leaving him.
