In your first home, there aren’t many people that have tons and tons of space to decorate. One of the rooms in the house that does always tend to be on the smaller side in that instance is the bathroom. So it is a good idea to make the most of what you’ve got. A bit of careful planning and choosing the right design and furniture can really mean that you have more space than before. So pick those things wisely, and the bathroom won’t feel as cramped after all. Here are some tips and tricks to help you save space, and create space, in a small bathroom.
Install a Corner Sink
When you’re trying to save space, even a pedestal sink can interrupt the flow of the room. If there is only a small passageway to walk through and a sink takes up half of it, then it does interrupt the space and make things more awkward. A corner sink can be a great way to avoid this kind of thing. So when you’re looking at bathroom suites, look out for one that has a corner sink. It can be a great way to save space.
Choose a Shower Curtain Over Screen
If you lack space width ways in the bathroom, then one thing that can take up a lot of space is when a glass shower screen or door keeps opening. If you find that it doesn’t open up all the way because of a lack of space, then getting a shower curtain, that just pulls along sideways, is a great way to save space. You can get those in beautiful colors too, so can look prettier than a plain old shower door too. Of course you may want to check out some shower screens installation as well since that could be the route you want to go.
Furniture That Doubles Up As Something Else
In order to save space, then it helps having furniture that doubles up as something else. It makes sense when you can use one thing for two things, right? So think about a vanity unity that can be used for storage for towels, as well as for the sink. You can even get toilet basins that are attached to units, to increase the storage and worktop space that you might get in a bathroom. One other great way to use something for two things is to get a mirrored storage cabinet. Then you don’t need to get an extra mirror and unit. You can store things like toiletries and medicines in the cabinet, and then use the front of the cabinet for the mirror.
Choose Rounded Bathroom Furniture
In small spaces, furniture that has some harsh square edges can make the space even smaller. You have to walk around them more awkwardly and can even be a little more dangerous. So opt for rounded units where you can. You’ll save yourself plenty of bumps and bruises if so!
Do you have a bathroom that is a little on the smaller side? What things have you done to create more space in it? Would love to hear what you think.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

A corner sink is a great idea to save space! They actually used one on the Flip or Flop TV show to save space in a guest bath. Christina got the idea when they visited her husband’s grandmother in Belguim and she had a corner sink! Loveall your other ideas too!
