When it comes to business, most, or many of us understand the great importance of the internet. That is social media, online marketing and internet-based customer service. This extends into the physical world as well – we all know the value of promotion and the benefits of dealing with customers well.
The ‘gig economy’ is in full swing. For a lot of us, that means that the importance of ourselves as a business, or a brand is growing. Even if you’re a business owner with multiple employees, the same advice is going to help you. If you’re a sole trader, an entrepreneur or even a startup owner, building your brand, whether it’s personal or for business – is key.
Why should you take control of your brand though? Well if you’re a business, it’s going to be a personifier that helps build trust between you and your customers. Now, if your brand focuses on you as a person, it’s going to reflect your personal reputation.
Now, think of your brand as a plant. If you want it to thrive and grow, you need to nurture it. The best thing to do here is start a professional blog. A blog can tap into multiple avenues of the internet like social media to grow leads. The blog could be seen as the watering can, feeding your brand and helping it grow.
Your blog and the content you post on it is going to create interest, this interest could then spin into interest in you as a person, or in the case of a business, your product. This means that the content you create and cultivate could result in money coming into your pocket.
Plants can have branches stemming off of them, this means that you might not just want to focus your interests to grow upwards, but you may want to branch off into some tertiary topics to bring in interest and traffic from other, related areas, to your main interest of business area. Branching off doesn’t mean you should just start writing about other topics at random, but relatable topics. For example, if you write about lifestyle, maybe some posts could be about health, or travel?
Blogging needs a foundation though. That foundation is the internet and the tools it offers can feed into your blog and boost it. Don’t neglect social media as it can be a viable and natural way of boosting interest in your writing and brand. If you need help, companies like Socifollower exist to make sure you aren’t alone.
The most important aspect of growing your brand is to be authentic. This applies for both the personal and professional brands you can have. If you’re seen as corporate, people might not trust your business. If you’re laying the hard-sell on thick in your personal accounts, people will think you are a company’s mouthpiece and not a person. Be yourself, at all times and write about your interests. Think of your brand as a tree. It needs attention and care to grow, this can only happen if you are true to yourself, and to your brand.
