Milwaukee is a beautiful city that sits on the shores of Lake Michigan and has a rich, vibrant culture that all of its 600,000 residents enjoy year round. If you want to visit a city that has rivers running through it, stunning bars and restaurants and grand history, you can do a lot worse than Wisconsin’s primary city.
Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or have just moved to the area, it’s nice to know that there are days out available to you that are a little off the beaten track, so that once you have ticked off the tourist checksheet, you can do something a little different with your days.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some days out in Milwaukee that break the mold:
Ethnic Festivals
If you fancy starting your day with some culture and ending it with some festivals, you should take advantage of some of the many ethnic festivals that Milwaukee has to offer. They love to celebrate other cultures here: from Polish, German French and Italian festivals, to Indian and Mexican celebrations. With everything from music, dancing, food, and drink on display here, you will be smiling from ear-to-ear while enjoying watching other cultures show off their best assets, from Irish dancing to tasty Mexican tacos.
Escape Rooms
For something that will challenge your mind as well as your patience with your accompanying friends and family members (in a good way, of course), why not head to the Escape Room Milwaukee. In these specially designed rooms, participants have to work together to solve mysteries and tasks that will have you giggling and scratching your heads at the same time. Each task has a 60-minute limit, but there are plenty of options to choose from. Your brain will be exhausted afterward, and you’ll need a drink to either celebrate your victory or commiserate your failure to escape.
Harley Davidson Museum
Whether you’re a gas guzzling road warrior or simply want to do something a little different with your time, why not stop off at one of Milwaukee’s premier attractions; the Harley Davidson museum. Here you’ll find everything from the first Harley’s ever designed to the latest and greatest. It is such good fun, and there’s a lot to learn, too. You’ll find out just how much work goes into making one of the most famous motorbikes in the world. Take some photos of yourself straddling one of those beasts to make your friends jealous.
Wisconsin Cheese Mart
If you’re a genuine foodie, there aren’t many cooler places to visit in Milwaukee than the extremely popular Wisconsin Cheese Mart. Designed to make anybody who walks through the door start drooling instantly, the Cheese Mart started out as one small cheese shop in 1938 and now has expanded into one of the largest cheese retailers around. Get your taste buds at the ready, as there are over 150 cheeses for sale here, and a cozy restaurant/bar next door, too. You can try many of the craft beers they have to offer, and they specialize in different kinds of sausage from all over the world. What could be tastier than that?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
