If you subscribe to my newsletter either here or at Wickedly Romance then you will have seen a code. Those codes are used to get extra entries in various giveaways. This morning when I checked my email I had no less than two hundred emails asking me for extra codes.
First, am so thrilled and flattered that all of you love entering my giveaways. Sadly, I can’t just hand out extra codes. It wouldn’t be fair to those who never ask. In trying to keep everything fair I have to stick to the system I created. The weekly codes used to be only once a month but to make it a little better I changed it to every week.
Changes
It’s funny because I had toyed with the idea of doing away with the codes altogether. I didn’t think they were being used that often or that y’all even liked getting them very much. Boy was I wrong! I was pleasantly wrong. One thing I will do for the holidays though is give out two codes in each upcoming Rita Reviews newsletter.
The Wickedly Romance newsletter will only have the one code. I had planned on not doing a newsletter the weekend of Thanksgiving. I typically take that day off. However I will sit down this weekend and prep one for that weekend as well.
I will decide about the Christmas newsletter when we get closer. This was the best thing I could think to do that would give y’all more codes without breaking the system that I have. I promise that until the end of the year there will be two codes in the Rita Reviews newsletters. As far as the new year goes, I will make that decision closer to the beginning of the year. Chances are we will go back to the standard one code in each newsletter each week.
saturdays
The newsletter (both of them) are sent every Saturday. There is a pinned post on Facebook that lists the dates for you. Occasionally I do send them late but I tried to be sure they go out on time. You should know that some email clients don’t process your newsletter until Sunday. I know I have some readers who have told me that with Yahoo they don’t get them until Sunday. Be sure that you have rita(at)ritareviews.net whitelisted so that you can receive them.
Every Monday I go through the email list and make note of those who bounced for whatever reason so I can keep an eye on those. If you bounce more than twice in a month I send you an email to find out if you are actually receiving them and so we can work to resolve the problem.
Verified
I verify every single code manually that y’all enter in the giveaways. I make sure the entrant is in fact a newsletter subscriber. I double check that they did in fact, open and read the newsletter the code was given in. This is one of the biggest reasons it takes me a while close out some giveaways. This can take two days if the giveaway is a popular one. However, in the past I had people just typing whatever they wanted or using outdated codes. Each code does have an expiration date. This is in an effort to make closing out a giveaway. I try to verify a little each day but the truth is I get busy and end up doing it all after the giveaway has ended.

One question, How long is a code valid. I have last weeks code but is it good for the giveaway that started today?

I subscribe and get your e-mails, but I’ve never been able to find a code. Don’t know what I am doing wrong

I am in the same boat! 🙂
