You read that correctly. This year I will be getting two vacations of sorts. This month I am off to my brother’s because he and his wife are headed to Vegas for a work conference (for him) and then a few days away together. They haven’t done anything like that alone for many years. It’s why she got the new suitcase.
I am heading up to house sit, take care of the dog, and finally to make sure that my nephew 1.) gets up and goes to school everyday and 2.) doesn’t make my brother and sister in-law grandparents just yet. He’s a teenager and while he is generally a good kid they thought it best to not give him that temptation just yet.
Not to mention I tell them all the time that he has their genes and they know what all they did. I’m surprised they aren’t locking him up. I’m just kidding! Like I said he’s a good kid but let to his own devices he would probably sleep right through school. It amazes me how teens can sleep all day.
I never did but we weren’t allowed to. My father woke me up when he got up if for some reason I wasn’t already awake. I was the one assigned with the task of waking everyone up and getting the coffee made and lunches ready after my oldest brother left home. My mom did it when we were young but once we were old enough my dad said to let Ma sleep in some.
Anyway, I will be away from home and am a bit ready. They tend to get colder weather and there is a chance it might snow. I miss snow and am super excited for a little time on my own. During the day it will be just me, the dog, a good book, and the fireplace. I will still be working some each day so this is not a full on vacation. It’s just a temporary relocation.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

A change in your routine is sometimes nice. I don’t travel because of the cats, but I am really such a homebody. I thrived during the pandemic.’ Don’t go anywhere!’ I didn’t like the shortages on groceries, but we managed.

It’s nice of you to house sit for them. It’s great to get away for a bit.

I remember hearing somewhere that with teens it’s partly a biological thing—that if they went to bed earlier, they couldn’t fall asleep. It’s probably screen time and other factors contributing to bad sleep…
