Neutrogena cares about education and through their Wave For Change program they are helping millions of students reach their potential but before I tell you about the program I want to share with you the day I learned about what education was truly all about. It happened in, what was at the time, the most embarrassing way but it is a lesson that has stuck with me all these years. I was in the fourth grade and at a new school when I wrote a paper that I received an A+ on. The teacher had written “Great Job!” across the top and I was so very proud of myself. I showed to my mom who congratulated me but the person I wanted to sow it to the most was my dad. When he came home I gave it to him and he read it then looked at me and said I need to meet with your teacher. I remember being devastated and heartbroken. I wanted him to be proud but it was obvious something was wrong.
He got an appointment to meet with my teacher the next day after school and he wasn’t late. I sat outside the little room with no door (our classrooms were all inside a large room with smaller rooms divided up by partitions.) I sat wringing my hands together as I listened to what my father was telling my teacher. He had found several grammar errors and was confused as to why she would give me an A+. She explained that I was not being graded on grammar and then proceeded to make the mistake of telling him that she taught me grammar later in the day. My father’s response to her was simple “You are her teacher are you not? It is your job to ensure that she learns regardless of the class.” From that day forward that particular teacher marked every error that not only I made but every other student as well. They were all so angry with me.
I was proud though because as I sat listening to my father tell my teacher all those things I realized that he loved me so much that he made a point of making such my education was up to his standards. He wanted me to learn and to be more than I thought I could be. I learned that education is one of the most important things in our children’s lives. My father was a busy man but on that day (and many others) he wasn’t too busy for me.
For the Third Year in a row Neutrogena’s Wave For Change is donating a $1 from now until August 31st for every time the Wave For Change video above is viewed and they are also donating a $1 of every Neutrogena product you purchase to GlobalGiving which in turn will support education charities here in the United States such as : Knowledge is Power Program, Para Los Ninos, and Education Through Music. Neutrogena’s goal is to donate $250,000 which will help so many students get the tools and resources they desperately need. If you think our education system and students do need any help then ask a student you know about the Consititution or even the Cold War. Chances are you know more about it than they do. Most students today don’t know the amendments to the Constitution or even what they mean. Thanks to Neutrogena maybe they will have the tools to learn just how important that document is.
Please take a moment and watch the video above, share it with your friends and families. Together with Neutrogena we can all make the difference in the life of a child. You can hit the like button above to like the Neutrogena Facebook Page which I also encourage you to do.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
