That’s what the kids told me this morning! We will be leaving in about a week and they are just so excited. I’m sure what they are excited about other than just the trip itself because I haven’t really told them anything about what all we will be doing. Kids are funny that way! I remember growing up and being so thrilled anytime something big was going to happen. I could never sleep the night before and the truth is I am still that way a little bit.
I was the kid that managed to stay away all night on Christmas Eve! The night before school started I didn’t get a single wink of sleep. So I know that the night before we leave I won’t sleep at all so I am planning on making sure that I get at least a nap in that day. Ma on the other hand is like the kids and can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. However she is also the type of person that has no patience. I’m talking not a single drop which means she will say “Lets go ahead and leave” a gazillion times. It doesn’t matter that we will show up early or that it may inconvenience someone she is just simply ready to go and that is that.
With the kids being so excited that they will stay awake the night before means that they will sleep during the drive. I am mixed about that because it is a four hour drive which means they will get off their regular sleep patterns. That makes them super cranky later. I also love when they manage to stay awake and see everything that is going on around us. We pass the airport which is always fun for kids to watch. Either way though I am just as excited as they are! 🙂

How awesome that the kids are so excited and I hope they can sleep, but it is so hard to when you are going to be having vacation and doing really fun things that are so different! Have fun on your trip!

It is hard and I hope they mange to do as well as they have in the past.

My parents took a photo of my brother and I waiting by the fireplace (which in that old house was a real fireplace) for santa, where we then fell asleep and were carried to bed). He was 7 so I must have been 4. I wish that I still had that picture!

Even if you don’t have the picture you have the memory. That’s all I have of a lot of my childhood but I will never let those go.
