What a Lady Requires is the third book in the Eton Boys Eton Boys trilogy however it stands perfectly well on its on. I haven’t read either of the other books and was able to read this book without any trouble.
About the Book
Unlike every other proper young lady, Miss Emma Jennings views marrying well as little more than a means to an end. Such a merger would provide her industrious father with social credibility, and Emma with a chunk of her vast inheritance. Emma’s practical views are shattered, however, when her father ties her to the fabulously handsome ne’er-do-well Rowan Battencliffe, a man she loathes on sight—from the smile that promises all manner of wickedness to the way he ogles her with those striking blue eyes.
Deep in debt, especially to his wine merchant, Rowan figures the sooner he gets his finances in order, the sooner he can go back to doing what he does best: burning through ridiculous sums of cash. Which is why Rowan agrees to marry the merchant’s daughter, a prim and proper woman with delightful curves and an ample dowry. But Emma seems to think it’s her business to reform him! Their marriage is a tinderbox—and it’s just too tempting to resist playing with fire.
My Thoughts
Neither Emma or Rowan are your typical heroine/hero! They both break that stero-type quite beautifully I must admit. Emma is very much the “man” at times in the relationship in that she is very modern for the time period. She understands finance and business which is not something that a proper society woman should. While Rowan is social and finance eludes him. They are forced into an arranged marriage and I really love their internal thoughts at their first meeting. Emma is worried about this being a mistake as Rowan is not who she thought to marry while Rowan is thinking of the wedding night. Just like a man! Rowan is determined to make Emma loosen up a bit (and his puns are so horrible they are funny) while Emma is determined to make Rowan walk a straighter line.
All in all it was a good book that kept me entertained til the end. I wouldn’t say it was one that I had to stay up all night to finish but the story line was solid and the characters are great. There were a few things that left me a bit unsure but it could just be me.
Purchase the Book
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

This sounds like a nice easy read. It’s the type of book I like to read when I don’t want anything to serious and just want to escape. Thanks!

That is exactly what this book is. A nice read just to escape for a bit.

I typically don’t love true romance books but I like the sound of this plot. It doesn’t sound typical. I also like that it’s a stand alone book.

The plot of this one is not typical which was nice for a change. I love all the happily ever after but I love the work it takes for them to get there even more.

Sounds like the story was okay. I like that you were honest about your feelings about the book. I must say the cover is a little, well, surprising. Thanks for the review. 🙂

If I’m honest the cover is what caught my eye to begin with. I do try to be as honest as I can with all of my reviews. Typically if I don’t like a product I simply don’t write about it but with books I do. I think it is just that everyone has such different opinions and I love books so much that I am always looking for those opinions.

Well I am so loving the title of this book, catches my attention quickly. I am really not to much into the Romance books, but I am willing to give any book a shot. Both characters seem appealing though.
