When you’re interested in protecting yourself and your loved ones from those kinds of people who are out there with malicious intent, few options will make you feel safer and will act as a better deterrent than a concealed firearm.
However, depending on which state of the US you’re in, the rules can be different and can actually vary quite dramatically. With this in mind, today, we’re going to be asking which are the best states that will allow you to carry a concealed weapon.
Arizona
Arizona is coveted as being the most gun-friendly state in the US. As long as you’re over the age of 21, you don’t need a permit issued to carry a concealed weapon, but you can openly carry at the age of 18. However, there are certain locations where you will need a permit, but these are easily obtainable throughout the state. Many claim that when it comes to gun ownership, it doesn’t get better than Arizona.
Idaho
Since 2016, you don’t need a permit to carry a gun in Idaho, although you can still get one (a Concealed Weapons License) if you want one. While the exceptions of not carrying a weapon on school and university property still exists, anywhere else is practically go where you please.
New Hampshire
Perhaps surprisingly, New Hampshire has the lowest homicide rate in the US yet has a permitless system like the other states we’re talking about today. Over 29 other states recognize and accept the New Hampshire permit if you still want to get one, and for only $3 per year, it’s too expensive either.
Texas
Texas is a fairly decent place to get yourself a firearm. You will need a state issue License to Carry, regardless of whether you’re concealing your weapon or carrying it openly, and it only makes sense that you can’t carry them in certain areas, such as universities and schools.
While there are certain other prohibitions depending on which city you travel to, getting a weapon and carrying it around is generally not a problem. To get a license, you can take this LTC course today.
Kentucky
Kentucky is yet another state that has switched over to a permitless format since 2016, meaning you can buy and carry a concealed weapon with no training, permits, or license required. As with most states, you can’t carry into schools, bars, or government buildings, but everywhere else should be fine.
The Least Friendly Gun States
Just so you’re aware of what states are on the other side of the spectrum, as rated by GunsandAmmo.com, the states that have the toughest laws on concealed weapons include;
- Hawaii
- California
- New York
- Maryland
- New Jersey
Basically, if you’re interested in getting a gun, these are the states you’re going to want to avoid at all costs.
Summary
There’s no denying that there are still plenty of gun-friendly states in the US, despite debates and talks happening all over the country. Whether you want a gun yourself or a loved one does, these are the states you’re going to want to be thinking about.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
