What To Do When A Loved One Has Been Arrested

Jul 26, 2024 | Rita

What To Do When A Loved One Has Been Arrested

There’s nothing more worrying than seeing a loved one getting arrested. As a result of the arrest, they’ll be taken to the police station and likely put in a jail cell before being interviewed further. Helping out a loved one when they’ve been arrested can be helpful, so these tips will ensure you protect your loved one as best as you can from the outside.

Ask the police where they’re being taken

It’s good to check in with the police before they go driving off with your loved one so that you know exactly where they’re being taken. Just because they’re being arrested in a certain area, doesn’t mean they’ll go to the closest police station. You also might not be in an area you know or are familiar with, so it’s good to ask before they leave.

Get a lawyer for representation

A lawyer is crucial when it comes to protecting your loved one. Whether they’re of a certain age or background, a lawyer is going to help your loved one get the legal representation that they deserve and will need before being interviewed.

As is their right to legal help, you should remind your loved one of this as they’re getting arrested.

Look at bail bond services

Be sure to look at bail bond services in order to understand how it works and to hopefully get your loved one out of jail as soon as possible. This infographic is handy to understand the process in full.

A loved one who is arrested is not something you want to experience but these tips will help manage the situation in the moment.

God forbid I ever need this information, but I’m glad information. I wondered how bond’s work.

This would be a huge nightmare. I had no idea you could pay your bail bondsman with Paypal.
