My Thoughts:
Lorrie Flem is a life saver! Hearing “What’s for dinner Mom?” can be the worst words a mom can hear. I always hate hearing them. However in What’s For Dinner Mom? Lorrie addresses so many issues that I have struggled with such as concerning bulk food preparation. I would love to cook once and then not really cook the rest of the week but I have never really been able to master it. Lorrie has developed a system that breaks the process of filling up your freezer with meals into smaller more doable tasks. This has helped me so much! I now have a little more time with my children!
I am also ready to look at our snacking area. I am trying to get away from buying processed snacks I do not want my children eating prepackaged foods that are full of chemicals and preservatives. I know I need to prepare more of these but am having such a hard time with it. It is my goal to develop healthier snacks during this summer break. There are three practical ideas Lorrie suggested that I think are going to really help me in the snack department.
What’s For Dinner, Mom? is not available as an e-book, but is an actual print copy book that can be shipped right to your home and reside on the shelf along with your other cookbooks for easy access and reference. I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I, too, like Lorrie’s bulk cooking ideas. I’ve done a variation of this for a few years now. Or should I say, DID..haven’t done it in a while.

I’d love to have had some of these ideas when I had teenage boys in the house! Still, now that it’s just Hubz and me, I’m finding that it takes just about as much time to cook for two as for a family and that there is more waste. I don’t like wasting food. I’m also finding that, packing just Hubz’ lunch daily, I’m tending to buy more easy snacks than I like to do. I think I could modify some of these bulk cooking ideas to fit our “smaller” lifestyle.

I would love to know more about the freezer meals. How easy it would be to just pull something out. The only thing that intimidates me is if the meal would be just as tasty if it were made fresh. I love this. yellow_patricia at hotmail dot com.

Wow, I think I need this! There are so many things I had never learned when I moved into my first apartment, and I never did ‘officially’ learn them. It has only been through trial and creative solutions to my many errors that I have developed the kitchen know-how I have, as little as that may be. I think a book like this could save me a lot of time and grief! 🙂

I like the idea of including the kids in the cooking process. It’s a lot of fun for everyone. Also, as she says, when dinner is planned, Mom can relax

This sounds like a great book. I collect cookbooks and also use them. I like this book particularly for the idea of making a months meals in only a few afternoons because our children are adults now and, although, we do make dinner every night, they are usually awake and upstairs looking for something to eat.
This book would be a lifesaver for me because the kids tend to get grouchy if there isn’t anything in the fridge or freezer for them to eat in the middle of the night.
