Welcome to day 17 of the 25 Days of Me and I thought I would share this post again that I originally wrote in 2012. I did a little updating to it as well and I will say this is something that I still do. Do you have something that you do when no one is watching? When no one is around and I am more than certain that no one will see me, I turn the music up really loud and dance around the house.
I know it sounds crazy but there is something for me that is just so freeing about it. I have only been caught doing it twice. Once was when I was a teenager and my dad never let me live it down. He always thought it was so funny. I didn’t stop doing it either. I dance when no one is looking because I find it fun and I don’t want people judging my bad dancing. The second time I was by my ex and it wasn’t that big of a deal.
2021 Update
Now, while I still do this mostly when no one is home I don’t care as much if they catch me doing it. If I have music on I dance to it, sing along, whatever. I don’t hide in shadows with it anymore. I don’t go out dancing either though because I don’t think I am that good at it. I look like I am having a seizure. I don’t care though! There are moments when I shimmy and shake while I am cooking too. The kids laugh and find it funny. Sam will join in with me if he catches me doing it.
His little body jumps around and he has less coordination than I do but we have a blast doing it. It’s funny that I don’t dance well because I do have rhythm. I actually sing and play several musical instruments. It’s just dancing that throws me for a loop somehow.
What do you do when no one is watching? Share your thoughts with us in the comment below please.

Sometimes when I’m not feeling well and my back hurts I will lay down on the bare hard wood floor to get some relief. I wouldn’t want someone to come to the door or into the room and see me. Dancing sounds a lot more fun!

I am pretty reserved, but for me it is usually singing to my plants 🙂

ummm…does digging into a container of ice cream with a serving spoon and scooping out only the best toppings/chunks of goodies count? (and of course denying it later). Oh, and I HAVE danced or exercised my way around the house to music too. And have been caught. I know at over 50 I look completely ridiculous but hey, you only live once!

I make up songs about my cat and sing them to her.

I am trying to do this more often, as a means of exercise. I live in Florida, so it’s already hot outside and not conducive to exercising outdoors. Dancing is a fabulous calorie-burner. Even if I don’t know “how” or very good at it!
