My cousin called to tell me tat she was moving to Sarasota and you know what my first question was? Yep, you guessed it I asked her where int he world was that. My brain just had a moment where it could process the map for the fact that I had heard of the city before.
I do know that it is in Florida but I didn’t know where in Florida it was. Have you had a moment like that? Where you knew that you knew where or even what something was but your brain just didn’t compute it.
I did ask her if she needed me to look up movers Sarasota or local movers Sarasota but she told me her company was handling all of that. I was grateful. What she did need me to do was figure out things to do. Since her kids and her were going to go a little early to learn the city she wanted a list. Thus began my search.
I found some botanical garden right away that I knew the kids would love. Her kids are really into the outdoors so I thought checking out the gardens would be fun for them. They went to some jungle last year and had the best time. In fact the Big Cat Rescue would be right up their alley as well. There is also the Ringling that looks interesting. If anyone has been there tell me about it because I really want to know.
There is the Sarasota National Cemetery they may enjoy. It could be a good history lesson maybe. If she wants to do something on her on she could visit Siesta Key Rum. It could be fun and I may go join her in that. There are also numerous beaches but I don’t know if any of those are open this time of the year. They may stay open all year long but I am not sure. I’ve never been to the beach in the winter. It could be fun if not a little cold.
Of course I worry about them and hurricanes in Florida. They are moving from the north where the most they get in bad weather is snow storms. I mean they do get thunderstorms and such but they have never experienced a hurricane to my knowledge. I could be wrong because they do travel a lot and may have been in one that I don’t know about.
Weather can be a big factor when moving to Florida. I suggested it once and my poor mother almost had a stroke. I’m not being funny either. She hates the water and the thought of having to live that close to it was just too much for you.
In the end the only thing that matters is that they are happy with their new city. Not to mention they will be much closer to us than they were before so we will see each other more. We don’t get to see one another that often at the moment.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
