Regardless of the type of workplace, from office buildings to construction sites, there is two common traits – your valuable employees may become ill or injured and need to ensure someone is present who knows proper first aid procedures.
There are a number of businesses that overlook the importance of first aid training for their employees. However, if an emergency occurs, being able to act quickly can be invaluable and may just help to save a life.
Regardless of the work environment, issues such as stings and bites, musculoskeletal injuries, extreme temperatures, burns, poisonings, bleeding, shock or other medical emergencies can occur. The fact is these injuries – even if they seem minor – can be quite costly for the company.
If your employees are not able or prepared to handle all these types of injuries on each shift then their coworkers will remain untreated until the emergency responders arrive on-site. This can result in their condition becoming worse and the injuries becoming much more debilitating, which can result in a larger amount of lost productivity and higher medical costs.
It simply makes sense for businesses to offer first aid training and BLS CPR Classes to every employee. This is a small investment that will help keep employees healthy and provide a better sense of well-being, since they know if something does happen, their co-workers have the ability and knowledge to help.
In fact, it is a good idea to make first aid training mandatory for employees. This is especially important if the workers are in a confined area or do not have direct access to a hospital or other medical clinic. Ensuring employee well-being with confined space training can help to minimize the potential for issues and ensure everyone can be looked after by their co-workers in the event of an emergency.
There are a number of training programs that offer first aid courses for groups. It is also important to have refresher courses every few years to ensure employees remember what to do. iSafety Training offers more information about the benefits of first aid training and how it can help any office setting.
Take the time to find a quality provider of this training by doing an internet search of First Aid Course Near Me Lancashire and you will see how beneficial the services can be. This will save your company money and ensure a higher productivity from employees, which offers a win-win situation for any business, regardless of the size or the type of business that is being operated. This will help ensure your business is productive.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Not just employees, but EVERY adult should know first aid basics, especially CPR. Great post!
Rita says
You are right they should

First aid training in the workplace is a great idea. I was a classroom teacher and we would have training each year!
Rita says
That is awesome that you had training every year. You just never know when you might need it.

First Aid is so very important for everyone to know. I remember the first company I worked, offered basic first aid and CPR classes for free. I always took them so I would at least know what to do in an emergency. 🙂
Rita says
It is important to know CPR and first aid. Every company should train their employees because seconds count in an emergency.

I worked at a small start up a few years ago, and they were great about getting us trained in first aid. Whoever wanted to learn was welcome to take the course for free. Most employees signed up, so we had someone with the information in most areas during the day. I liked knowing I knew what to do to help someone.
Rita says
I would like knowing that someone was around that knew as well. even if you never needed it, having that knowledge there is a comfort.
Julie Wood says
I got very good first aid training at my job and it really helps with knowing all the important stuff for first aid. It is so important to know the proper procedures for certain injuries so the person does not get hurt more by me trying to help them.
Rita says
It is important and I am so glad that you got that training.
Alyssa F says
i agree! i would want to help my coworkers as best i could in a dire situation that needs this knowledge! DEf should be pushed in more industrys.
Rita says
It should be taught in all industries. You just never know when you are going to need it.

I totally agree with this, and would also say that every adult should have first aid training. You never know when you will need it & you are much more likely to remain calm if you have the training.
Rita says
I couldn’t agree with you more.
Denise Taylor-Dennis says
We have been doing safety classes at work and they are quite helpful, we have several important topics.
Rita says
That is awesome!

I completely agree! However, I feel like every adult should have basic first aid training. I recently got certified in CPR at a local church.
Caitlyn says
I think, in general, adults should take a refresher course on first aid and CPR periodically. You just never know when you might need it.
Dandi D says
This is all so important, and I’d really like to take a CPR course soon.
Lisa Brown says
I have first aid kits in the house and my car, just in case.
Wendy Browne says
I absolutely agree that every adult and even capable child should know first aid basics. It enables action, not panic.
Natalie says
I work in a medical clinic so we are required to annually complete a first aid class. It is so important!
James Robert says
I work in a restaurant and agree 100% with you here. I think it should be made mandatory but we have not had any training and most places I have worked at have not
Rust says
Both of my (grown) kids took basic first aid courses in their teens. You never know when that valuable information could save a life. Good post!
Michelle S says
We take safety classes but not actual first aid classes. This is something our organization should require of everyone.
Shannon says
I completely agree and since you spend a lot of time at work something could in theory happen to you there. You never know what can happen and you should be prepared for it. I took so many “high 5 selling skills” tests and stuff like that but was never trained in this and a lot of people did get hurt on the job. It would have been more beneficial to know IMO. Thank you for sharing.

I completely agree! Most companies have a wide range of people working, including young people whom may be pregnant, those living with chronic disease such as diabetes, or older workers/or young whom may be prone to heart issues. It seems like a company would WANT to be on top of health crisis, because work is like your second family…you’d want to do the right thing and be able to help. It seems so silly that every company does not enlist first aid AND CPR.
ellen beck says
Not all companies can afford it but it would be nice to at least have one traained. CPR is needed everywhere iin and out of the workplace. It can save many lives.
alicia szemon says
I agree that every employee should have first aid training. If there was ever an emergency, they should be able to take care of it and not have to rely on a medical personel
