Why Is Early Childhood Education Important?

May 15, 2020 | Rita

Once your baby is born you need to start thinking about the right childcare for them. This may seem early but many people consider this before the child is even born.

The simple fact is that early childhood education is important and you need to get a spot in the best child care Bendigo. That means getting your child’s name down early.

There are several reasons why early childhood education is so important:

Social Skills

Getting a good education is important but social skills are essential in every walk of life. Whether your child wants to become a successful businessperson or run the country, having good social skills will help them to get there.

Social skills mean the ability to interact with others, to share ideas, and to listen to input. The basics of these skills are formed by playing socially during early childcare.

Learning Habits

Early childhood education also instigates the habit of learning into your child. Young children literally absorb information. This is the best time for them to learn about a wide variety of subjects.

During the process of learning the children will have fun. They will also realize that education is simply part of their schedule. This acceptance will help them to be good at studying throughout their school life.

These habits can also help them to be more disciplined in other areas of their life, that will help them to achieve their goals and become the people they want to be.

It’s also interesting to note that children who go to early childhood education centers are more likely to complete high school. As there appears to be a direct correlation between those who don’t complete high school and people in prison, helping your child to finish high school can help to keep them out of prison.

Decreasing Class Gaps

Research suggests that people in more affluent families have a wider vocabulary range than those from poorer families. By getting your child into early education you’ll be helping to decrease the gap between rich and poor. At the same time, you’ll be helping them to be all that they can be, giving them the very best starting point as adults.

Emotional Awareness

Many children find it hard to display, understand, or control their feelings. These are all new concepts that can appear strange and scary. But, children who have early childhood education benefit from learning about these emotions and how to deal with them.

This ensures the children gain emotional awareness, making them better balanced and more able to take on the world on their own terms.

Friendships

It’s also important to note that friendships formed in early learning are often held onto throughout life. But, even if they’re not, they teach your child the basics of forming friendships, a skill that is especially important as they mature and move through the school system.

Every parent wants what is best for their child. Although it can seem hard to send them to a learning facility when they are still very young, this does give them the best possible start in life.

This speaks to me. I’m a former (retired) Montessori Primary teacher (3-6YO’s) who worked for years in an international school with baby (infants) and toddler (potty trainig) rooms as well as my own age group. There are many approaches to early childhood education…all of them important. The key feature is providing a rich environment for children to learn. <3
