I love a good bottle of wine and have a glass with a meal once in a while. I came across Wine Awesomeness not too long ago and knew that I wanted to work with them. When they agreed I was over the moon. I mean come you have to love a come who knows how awesome they are.
Every month the wine nerds at Wine Awesomeness find the perfect wines for their boxes. They send you a box of three wines along with their blacklabel magazine. Don’t worry this little magazine is awesome! My copy was all about the various ways to have a grilled cheese and the wines that it would pair with. It was awesome and I plan on trying those sandwiches over time.
The Electric Red is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Carignan, and Primitivo. Now as someone who is not an expert I only recognized two of those words. To me it was medium bodied and had a bit of a tartness to it that really brought out the blackberry and cherry flavors. The deep colors of the fruit could be seen in the color. It was a deep red that was almost a purple. I enjoyed with a Mediterranean salad which was much more enjoyable thanks to the wine.
I never had any wine from New Zealand before but I will say the Tora Bay was my favorite of the three. It is a Sauvignon Blanc and very fruity. At least to me it was. The peach really came through and I had this particular with cheesecake one night. I understand that this isn’t necessarily a dessert wine but let me tell that the peachiness of this pair with the cheesecake was sinful. I will most certainly buying this one again to have with some other desserts.
Finally the Mont Gravet Carignan which is from France. If you have never had any wine from France then I highly recommend you try this out. French wine is different from Californian wine. This red is a dark red and has plenty of fruitiness to it. There are blackberries, blueberries, and dark cherries. However I didn’t do dessert with this. Nope! I had a steak and it was awesome! I loved the fuller body of this with the steak.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I am a wine drinker newbie and don’t know the first thing on what makes a great wine. Will be checking that Tora Bay. I love peaches! Thanks for this post!

You are so welcome. I don’t the first thing about wine either. All I know is what tastes good.

I love to try wines – both my husband and I like to do tastings. It’s nice to try it before you commit to buying a whole bottle.

I like to drink wine, but when I shop for it I can’t make up my mind, so I get something I know I like. I like the idea of having 3 new bottles to try each month, and the price is very reasonable. Thanks for sharing this!
