For those of you who have followed me for a while you know that I have really cut down on my book reviews this year. In fact I only do one or two a month if that and they usually are faith based or children’s books unless they came in a subscription box. When I was given the chance to review Wise Guys: Unlocking Hidden Wisdom from the Men around You, by Kent Evans I jumped at the chance because it sound so much liek a book I needed to read.
About the Book
For guys, more than ever, it’s a confusing world. Your GPS doesn’t offer any maps showing how to get to the point of wisdom — and who likes asking for directions anyway?
But there are ways to get that guidance you need. The answers may be all around you, in the form of guys you already know. Wise guys. More experienced guys. Better-traveled guys. Could there be ways to tap into their invaluable knowledge without enduring dull lectures or taking pages of notes?
Kent Evans has surrounded himself with these wise guys. They have shown him all the back roads on the way to wisdom. With a great deal of humor and an endless supply of stories, he wants to show you how to gather life-enriching truth from the guys in your own circle.

My Thoughts
That said it didn’t meant that I couldn’t read it as well. after all I am a single mother and I need to know how to help my sons find the encouragement they need from the positive men in their lives. Using a series of personal stories Kent tells of the men he has encountered throughout his life as well as the impact they have had in making him the Godly husband, father, and businessman that he is today. He encourages readers (and men) to seek those types of men out and even gives 11 tips on how to begin that search. That really surprised and helped me as it wasn’t what I had expected. I now know more about the type of men that my sons should have in the life. Not meaning that the ones that are there now are awful just that these are important. The “Question to ponder” was wonderful and really helped me look more deeply into each chapter and feel as though I got more out of it.
