Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Wonder Workshop and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
We all want our children to be creativity in everything they do. Whether they are coming up with new ideas or just trying to solve a problem. I always tell my own children to always think outside the box because the box is only the limits that you put upon yourself. I know it sounds so corny but if I had been taught to stay within my own box I would have never done the things that I have done in my life. Wonder Workshop understand that as you can see int he video above.
I really love the video especially when they say “we can do it ourselves!” It is simply too cute and the truth is if you think about it when you were growing up you most likely did much more on your own then your children do. I know that we did. In fact there was the time that we broke the garage window and had to get creative about fixing it (you don’t even want to know what we did!) but we had to work it out on our own. All of that taught me to be the creative person that I am today and led me to be able to have this amazing job that I have. I want my children to have the same thing.
One thing that I know is that children are much smarter today than they ever were and they are doing things that we never imagined doing. I have a nephew who is an only child and you would think that would hinder him in some way but he plays by himself and comes up with all sorts of new and amazing worlds. My own children love playing with the computer, drawing, and doing other things. They all have traveled the universe within their imaginations and I could not be happier. That is why I am really excited about Wonder Workshop’s Dash & Dot that we will be reviewing soon. I know that it is going to take their creativity to a whole new level!
How do inspire your children’s creativity?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I inspire creativity in my niece and nephew by reading to them. They love to think about new worlds and far away places.

It seems to come natural, I don’t know if I inspire it so much (they don’t need it) as I make sure I don’t hinder it. If they want to build forts, I let them build forts. If they want to color/paint/playdoh that is what we do. I embrace this season of life and I don’t worry about messes.
I make some suggestions, like staple paper together to they can “write their own books” and things like that.

Such a cute video. I like that last line that said “maybe you knew how to do it when you were a kid too” I don’t think I’ve lost my creativity over the years but I haven’t used it as much for sure. Now that I have a 3 year old, I’m back in practice. She has a step sister who is 12 so there is a bit of an age difference but I agree, being an only child does not hinder creativity. If anything, it inspires it. She gets to play with kids all day while I’m a work and we have plenty of play dates but when she is alone, she is unbelievable creative. She almost has to be. I love watching her create something from nothing!
