The best way to save money is to…not spend it. However, that’s just not feasible, is it? There’s always going to be things we need and want to make our lives and those of the people around us better. And there’s nothing wrong it, especially when you have a secret weapon up your sleeve. Whisper it quietly, but…did you know that you really don’t have to pay full price for, well, anything? It’s true. Take a look at our advice below and start putting all your saved money in the bank: you’ll be going on a (discounted) holiday in no time at all.

Buy Used
We don’t have to tell the things that you can’t buy used, but there’s probably more than you think you can buy used. Books and CDs are the most obvious ones, as there’s no real reason why your copy has to be brand new. Also electrical goods, specifically those that are listed as “refurbished”: these are basically like new but don’t come with the same price tag. Heavy duty appliances that are still under warranty are also worth looking in to.
Coupons and Codes
There are discounts out there, often offered by the companies selling the products themselves. Take a look in your local newspapers for cut out coupons for local supermarkets; you can buy whatever is cheapest – you don’t have to be brand loyal. There’s plenty of offers online too – check out www.pluscodepromo.fr, for instance, and get deals on just anything you might buy.

Markets are Your Friend
Wherever you live, it’s likely that there are markets nearby that sell a whole range of goods. Due to the nature of markets, which don’t have high overhead costs and other bills, they’re able to offer much cheaper prices than in store. You might not be able to find everything you want, but a good market should have all the household basics you’d only buy in the nearest supermarket anyway. Depending on the type of the market, you might also be in a position to negotiate the price, and you’ll almost certainly be able to if you’re buying a few of any one item.
Buy Season Smart
If you want a good deal on a winter coat or winter shoes, you don’t want until the weather is freezing to buy. You buy when the weather is glorious outside and stores are discounting their winter stock just to get rid of it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of the item, yet you’ll be spending as much as 70% less than you would if you had bought it in January. Similarly, buy your swimming costumes in January. It’s all about buying out of season.
Newsletters
If you buy from small independent websites and stores, try to get on their newsletter lists. Many send out deals that are only able to be claimed by subscribers. While brand loyalty isn’t always the best way to save money, it does pay with the smaller outlets – and you’ll have the added benefit of helping a local business stay afloat.

You’ve got some great points here. I avoid paying full price whenever and wherever I can. Sometimes getting discounts can be a lot of work, but in the long run, it’s worth all the time and effort it takes.
