Book Review: Kinda Don’t Care by Lani Lynn Vale

Apr 05, 2018 | Rita

Today we have the release blitz for KINDA DON’T CARE by Lani Lynn Vale. Check it out and grab your copy today!

I have been waiting for this book as well as this series! I am so excited and I hope that you all will be just as excited when you read my review.

Title: KINDA DON’T CARE
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Release Day: April 5th
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Photographer: Furiousfotog
Model: Joey Berry

She’s in a white dress that dances around her ankles, and her hair tumbles in a long sheet of curls down her back. A veil covers her beautiful eyes, and she smiles directly at him. Janie is everything Rafe’s ever imagined she would be on her wedding day.

Breathtaking. Gorgeous. Perfect.

The moment he sees her walking down the aisle towards him, he knows that she’s the one.

Then she passes him, making her way to the man she’s to marry.

A man that wasn’t him.

A man that he knows with one hundred percent certainty isn’t good enough for her.

It seems that her father isn’t the only one who’s having a hard time giving her away. Rafe only wishes he knew why.

Everything about Janie sparks protective instincts he doesn’t feel for anyone, not even his own fiancé.

What he feels for the bride, however, isn’t merely a simple attraction. He knows that something is there just beneath the surface…if only he could reach it.

It has to be something huge, too, otherwise he wouldn’t be drinking whiskey straight from the flask in a church pew and wondering how many years he would do in prison if he shot the groom in front of about a hundred witnesses—half of those being cops.

He was good…but not that good.

A near-death experience cost Rafe almost six months of his memory, but right now he can’t help but feel like a huge mistake is being made on both of their parts. One that’s going to cost him everything.

Then she says I do.

My Thoughts

ON THIS BOOK

Janie was a delight as a child. She grew up with pretty much every other character from every other series. Her father James is a member . Her stepmother Shiloh is Silas’ (my favorite character) daughter. While Sam (the book that started it all) is married to her aunt. Talk about seven degrees of separation. Think Shiloh is connected? Rafe is just as connected and he is what I think of as the younger version on Silas. He has been in many books, is Raven’s brother and works with the Freebirds. Are you confused yet? Don’t worry you’ll figure it out!

As I said I loved Janie as a child but as an adult she kicks butt! She has loved Rafe for much longer than even I realized and this girl has stayed true. She knows who and what she wants and will do whatever is necessary to get to it. Rafe has loved Janie for a long time as well but at one point she was too young and then things were too complicated.

Rafe has been injured in the beginning of the book and has no memory of Janie or what they shared. That leads Janie to do something drastic and while I can understand why she did it she shouldn’t have. Especially when things come out at the end and Rafe discovers that he didn’t need to be as undercover as in was with his case.

I know all of that is so round about and confusing but I don’t want to give anything away. One thing I will say right now, THERE IS NO CHEATING IN THIS BOOK. That is important because there is a point where you get nervous but when that happens keep reading. Everything is explained and dealt with.  This was the best start to a new series and showed us some of the kids as adults. The kids have been aged a bit for events but it is not so much that notice it.  We get to see so many characters from the past and how they are doing it was like a huge family reunion. I love James in this and the way he feels about giving his daughter away.

Janie and Rafe are perfect together. they are both strong and geeks. Rafe sees Janie as the woman she is and helps her family see her that way as well. While Janie doesn’t see Rafe as his father’s son but the man she loves. Their pasts don’t matter to one another. Rafe is older and demanding but Janie is ready to give everything to him.
