Purgatory Inn provides a real grasp of the plight of immigrants from Latin America to the US.
Ernesto Jose Herrera has managed to write a fascinating, poetic novel with a story that is well developed, populated by a wide spectrum of characters, all with many of the same reasons immigrants come to this country.

Herrera also incorporates how this country responds to the new immigrants (because we, as Americans, after all are all immigrants by history!) As the wife of an immigrant from Mexico I feel everyone should read this wonderful book.
