Dinner By The Kids

Oct. 07, 2011

Last night my children realized that I had the worlds longest day. So they loving prepare dinner for me. While their culinary skills are less than perfect they made every attempt to make it special. We had chili (yes it was from a can but who cares!) and my daughter took a Sara Lee pound cake, sliced it and drizzled melted chocolate over the top of it.What makes this even more special is that at 11 and 7 they have no trouble pitching in when needed and last night I really  needed a little extra help!

I love this! My kids help with dinner quite often, but every now and then they want to do it on their own. I’ve designed crockpot recipe cards that are more “kid friendly” so they can be in charge of dinner for the night. 🙂 That makes for one happy mama at night and kids that feel accomplished too!! 🙂
