Friday Cocktails

Feb. 19, 2021

It’s that time again! I know I’ve missed a couple of Friday Cocktails and I promise I’m gonna do better. If you’re new every Friday we get together for a chat and a drink. This week has been a whiskey sort of week, you know what I mean. Some weeks are just gloomy and you need a good strong Scottish Whiskey 🥃 to get yourself through.

It wasn’t that anything was wrong, just busy and it rained most of the week. I don’t think I saw the sunshine a single time. For me whiskey is always Scottish and always straight. Don’t add anything except maybe a little ice when I’m in the mood.

I have beautiful hands

BEAUTIFUL HANDS

This week was pretty much the same straightforward week. Hospital visits in the mornings, homeschool and work in the afternoons, family time at night. Although I had a moment this week where I thought my hands were just gorgeous. Yep my hands. I may have official lost it at this point. I was doing the dishes and pointed out something in the counter behind me. My hands caught my attention and all I could think was “Dang, my hands are just working tonight!” I would love to tell you things got better but then my feet were killing it my new slippers and I may have strutted around the living room like I was on the runway for five minutes. Either way it got the family laughing and I will be showing those awesome slippers very soon.

BATHROOM FACETIME

My brother FaceTimed me twice this week. The first time was to show me what he got his wife for Valentine’s Day. It was some nuts from nuts.com. Now granted she loved it but I had to make the comment that “You bought your wife nuts for valentines?” His response was something I can’t repeat but hey we don’t claim to be mature when we talk to one another.
Her gift to him was some car wash stuff except he showed it to me where all I could see was the label intense body wash. What the heck? So I asked and he said it had color enhancing so his “pasty white legs are gonna glow in the dark.”

The Next night he called to show me his steaks and shrimps they were doing for dinner. We all chatted for a while before my sister in-law noticed the background behind me. She appallingly asked if I was on the toilet while talking to them. Hey, a girl has to do what she has to do. It wasn’t like I was making a bunch of noise or flashing. No one saw or heard a thing. Not to mention no one asked if I was busy when they called. My brother said he’d call me later after he turned his steaks and called his therapist. I told I wasn’t paying for that even if it was Valentine’s Day.

Before I lose half of you as readers let me say, I’m not that gross all the time. However at this age with my siblings I’m more or less like whatever. We’ve been through so much together, especially this particular brother and I. He was still in high school when our father was sick and dying which meant he and I became close.

I cooked my first Christmas dinner with just him and I. It was a sad little canned ham and some potatoes. Mom was at the hospital with daddy and neither of our married siblings thought about inviting us. He and I had to plan a funeral and get him through high school. So being gross is allowed.

WEEKLY FINDS I LOVE

This week we are all about the comfort. I am sharing with you some items that I own and love. You can click any of the images to go to the items on Amazon. I love shopping on Amazon and you can find all of the items on my various lists here. I add to them all the time so be sure to check often.

  • Women Red Lips Leopard Sweatshirt : I wear this when I need to be warm but also not look horrible in my workout gear while running errands after the gym. I also throw it on when we head out and I don’t want to dress up.
  • Dr. Scholl’s Shoes Women’s Madison Sneaker: These are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. I wear them when I want to dress something up a little more than just sneakers.
  • MEROKEETY Women’s Long Sleeve Soft Chunky Knit Sweater with Pockets: This is my around the house sweater. I throw it on when I’m chilly. I also use it in the car when traveling. It’s comfy without being too bulky.
  • TINYHI Women’s Swing Loose T-Shirt Fit Comfy Casual Flowy Cute Swing Tunic Dress: There is nothing better than a T-Shirt dress. I throw this baby on during the spring and summer and just go. Sometimes I will toss on a pair of legging under it.
  • WEACZZY Women Summer Casual Swing T Shirt Dresses Beach Cover up Loose Dress: I wear this as a dress the way I do the first one. It is not see through so it works well. It is perfect for summer errands.
  • Hanes Women’s French Terry Pant: Around the house or out and about you can go wrong with these pants.
  • ANIXAY Women’s Henley T-Shirt: You can’t go wrong with a Henley. This one is super comfortable. I just throw it on and go. Well, plus pants and shoes y’all!
  • Dokotoo Womens Comfy Drawstring Casual Elastic Waist Pocketed Shorts: I love easy shorts and these are them. They wear well and fell so great on.
  • Vonluxe Women’s Fuzzy Slippers: I wear slippers in the house a lot and I love these. They have a hard bottom, so I can walk outside if I want to. My feet stay cold and these help keep them warm.

Is there anything better than slipping into something comfortable that feels wonderful? Comfort is my middle name when it comes to fashion. Since I am a big gal things that are tight or pinch don’t work well for me. The items above make me so happy to well. They also make me feel good about myself.

I don’t think I’ve ever had Scottish whiskey. My favorite right now is aged Japanese whiskey
