Friday Cocktails – September 1, 2023

Sep. 01, 2023

Sept 8 2023 Friday Cocktails

Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! September has finally arrived but the heat is sticking around! Mother Nature needs to get it together and realize it’s time for the fall weather to start. The backyard was covered in leaves this morning and I told Ma it certainly wasn’t because fall was coming. Those babies have died from the excessive heat.

My electric bill needs a break. Let me explain the difference in an old house electric bill and a newer one. My house was built in the seventies and is in good shape. My brother’s house was built in the late nineties. I leave my air conditioner set at 71 degrees and he leaves it at 67 degrees. My bill is more than $300 a month during the summer. His barely gets over $150 during the summer. It makes me want to slap someone.

I know they raise the rates at certain times of the year. I also have done all sorts of things to improve my bill such as ensuring all the windows are sealed properly, the insulation has been updated, etc. Nothing seems to help. It is so frustrating.

I went to visit my youngest son and his children but the baby was sick and now I am too. I have asthma so whenever I get a cold or respiratory infection I always feel extra crappy. So I will be spending my Friday night and the rest of the weekend in bed trying to let this thing run its course
