Movie Review: Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax

Aug. 03, 2012

 The Lorax

About the Movie:

The imaginative world of Dr. Seuss comes to life like never before in this visually spectacular adventure from the creators of Despicable Me! Twelve-year-old Ted will do anything to find a real live Truffula Tree in order to impress the girl of his dreams. As he embarks on his journey, Ted discovers the incredible story of the Lorax, a grumpy but charming creature who speaks for the trees. Featuring the voice talents of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate and Betty White, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is filled with hilarious fun for everyone!

My Thoughts:

I thought I had read and heard of every Dr. Seuss book there was but for the life of me I could not remember ever hearing of this one. I had never before read or seen Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax before so this was a big deal for me to get to review this movie. I love Dr. Seuss and so do my children. His books are the first ones I read to my children as well as my nieces and nephews.

The Lorax is a movie that will really make you think about the way we treat our world. In this movie children that greed never wins out in the end (which is how it should be.) The Lorax is a protector to nature but he is unable to stop the greed from one young man who wants to cut down all the beautiful trees.I don’t want to give too much away because this is a movie you really need to watch with your children! The Lorax is bright and colorful which makes it a great movie for kids as they are attracted to the colorful. Get Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on DVD August 7th 2012!

Thanks for the review… I love this book and have still not seen the movie, although I’ve watched the trailer several times! LOL One of these days I suppose we’ll get around to actually seeing it. Can’t go wrong with Dr. Seuss

I still haven’t seen this movie, I had forgotten it came out. I didn’t realize how many cool people did the voices. We’re always looking for fun family movie like this to watch, especially around the Holidays. I know I had this book and read it when I was little, but i cannot remember anything about it. I’m going to make a point for us to give this a try this season.

I completely agree with your review. And I would add that the colorful landscapes are even more spectacular and defined on Blu-ray! I would recommend seeing it on Blu-ray, if possible, it definitely enhances the experience.
